Synopsis Snake Hunting on the Devil's Highway by : Richard Lapidus
On his first snake hunting trip to southeastern Arizona, the author was taunted and belittled by the owner of a small caf because he expressed a fear of insects. The author extracted revenge by releasing a large rattlesnake in the crowded eatery. That's where the fun begins in this humorous accounting of the true-life trials and tribulations of two unlikely friends, Richard Lapidus and Buz Lunsford, as they traveled hundreds of miles each summer to spend a few days and nights hunting for snakes, and found themselves in the middle of situations (sometimes dangerous--always funny), mainly around the Chiricahua National Monument and Highway 666. More than snakes were encountered on the summer trips, however; and, through humorous short stories, other desert creatures are discussed, including bats, arachnids, lizards, frogs, toads, turtles, birds, skunks, insects, spiders, rabbits, coatimundis, rangers, law enforcement officials and other unusual two and four-legged critters. As Master of Ceremonies of the Warren Earp Days and Western Book Exposition in 2002, Richard Lapidus stood before the large group and told the story of his first snake hunting trip to that very city of Willcox, Arizona. There was so much laughter and good cheer that Richard was overwhelmed. He later dusted off his notes, and with the assistance of many people, assembled the stories in this collection.

Synopsis YOU, THE EAGLE VS DEVIL, THE SNAKE by : Hlompho Phamodi
I am going to teach you how to take your fight into the spiritual realm. God has taught me that there are many battles in my own personal life that I could have won, had I just changed the strategy of my fight. The worst mistake you can do is to fight the enemy in his comfort zone, change the battle grounds like the eagle and let God grand you a clean victory.

Synopsis Snake by : Erica Wright
Object Lessons is a series of short, beautifully designed books about the hidden lives of ordinary things. Feared and worshiped in equal measure, snakes have captured the imagination of poets, painters, and philosophers for centuries. From Ice Age cave drawings to Snakes on a Plane, this creature continues to enthrall the public. But what harm has been caused by our mythologizing? While considering the dangers of stigma, Erica Wright moves from art and pop culture to religion, fetish, and ecologic disaster. This book considers how the snake has become more symbol than animal, a metaphor for how we treat whatever scares us the most, whether or not our panic is justified. Object Lessons is published in partnership with an essay series in the The Atlantic.

Synopsis Mrs. Homeschool by : Karen Louise Peters
"I sometimes wonder where I was when I changed my mind." Ainslee’s husband once said, “Physical change is not necessary for spiritual growth, but it’s almost always the impetus for growth.” With that mindset, when a job offer prompts Lyndon and Ainslee to move across the Prairie Provinces; they look forward with a renewed sense of hope. It doesn’t take Ainslee long, though, to be conflicted with the realization that what she defines as significance will be challenged on every level by Lyndon’s recent commitment to homeschooling. "Was homeschooling what God wanted for me? For us? Could I submit myself to God if it was? Could I fight Lyndon if it wasn’t?” Pressures mount from every side. When Ainslee comes to terms with what it means for her to use homeschooling as a good means to impact her sons’ lives, she finds that systems are incapable of accomplishing the transformation they all need most. Discussion questions included make Mrs. Homeschool an excellent choice for a Book Club study.
