Synopsis Smothered by : Autumn Chiklis
A humorous debut crossover young adult novel about what happens when entering the "real world" means moving back in with your mother, inspired by actress and celebrity Autumn Chiklis' real life. Eloise “Lou” Hansen is graduating from Columbia University summa cum laude, and she's ready to conquer the world. Just a few minor problems: she has no job, no prospects, and she’s moving back into her childhood bedroom. Lou is grimly determined to stick to a rigorous schedule to get a job and get out of her parents’ house. Shelly “Mama Shell” Hansen, on the other hand, is ecstatic, and just as determined to keep her at home. Who else will help her hide her latest binge-shopping purchases from her husband, go to SoulCycle with her, and hold her hand during Botox shots? Smothered is a hilarious roman à clef told via journal entries, text messages, emails, bills, receipts, tweets, doctor’s prescriptions, job applications and rejections, parking tickets, and pug pictures, chronicling the year that Lou moves back home after college. Told from Lou’s point-of-view, Smothered tells the story of two young(ish) women, just trying to get it right, and learning that just because we all grow up doesn’t mean we necessarily have to grow old. (After all, what is Juvaderm for?)

Synopsis Smothered Words by : Sarah Kofman
In Smothered Words, the philosopher Sarah Kofman acknowledges her personal history, evoking for the first time in a published work her father's deportation and death in Auschwitz. Kofman juxtaposes readings of the work of Maurice Blanchot, reflections on The Human Race, Robert Antelme's account of his deportation to a German prison (also available from Northwestern University Press), and her recognition of having outlived her father and survived the Holocaust. Her consideration of these three figures and the texts associated with them serves as a meditation on the contrasting imperatives of history, autobiography, and critical writing. Kofman committed suicide in 1995. Smothered Words addresses both the effects on representation of the emotional suffering of the survivors and the ethical questions raised in representing the Holocaust. Kofman explores the relationships and tensions among autobiographical, historical, and philosophical approaches to writing the Holocaust.

Yet something about Annie snags his heart and he finds he cannot walk away from her. Smothered with Inexhaustible Mercy: An Anthology of Poems represents almost fifty years of well-known spiritual master Mark G. Boyer's poetry writing. After writing seventy books of prose on spirituality and history, he has collected over two hundred of his poems and divided them into nineteen chapters (collections). You will find poems on Alaska, Christmas, Colorado, day and night, Easter, friendship, ocean, seasons, wind and rain, and more. Over the years, a few were published in now out-of-print journals, magazines, newspapers, and books, but most are taken from his handwritten files and organized according to themes, arranged alphabetically in this book. The poetry lover will find a variety of styles, rhythm, and length in this collection of poems that delve into the insight of things and people, because there is also more than what is at first perceived. As the title indicates, the author hopes that this book of poems smothers the reader with inexhaustible mercy.
