Synopsis Flying Saucers by : C.G. Jung
Written in the late 1950s at the height of popular fascination with UFO's, Flying Saucers is the great psychologist's brilliantly prescient meditation on the phenomenon that gripped the world. A self-confessed sceptic in such matters, Jung was nevertheless intrigued, not so much by their reality or unreality, but by their psychic aspect. He saw flying saucers as a modern myth in the making, to be passed down the generations just as we have received such myths from our ancestors. In this wonderful and enlightening book Jung sees UFO's as 'visionary rumours', the centre of a quasi-religious cult and carriers of our technological and salvationist fantasies. 40 years later, with entire religions based on the writings of science fiction authors, it is remarkable to see just how right he has proved to be.

Synopsis Flying Saucers by : C. G. Jung
"In the threatening situation of the world today, when people are beginning to see that everything is at stake, the projection-creating fantasy soars beyond the realm of earthly organizations and powers into the heavens, into interstellar space, where the rulers of human fate, the gods, once had their abode in the planets.... Even people who would never have thought that a religious problem could be a serious matter that concerned them personally are beginning to ask themselves fundamental questions. Under these circumstances it would not be at all surprising if those sections of the community who ask themselves nothing were visited by `visions,' by a widespread myth seriously believed in by some and rejected as absurd by others."--C. G. Jung, in Flying Saucers ? Jung's primary concern in Flying Saucers is not with the reality or unreality of UFOs but with their psychic aspect. Rather than speculate about their possible nature and extraterrestrial origin as alleged spacecraft, he asks what it may signify that these phenomena, whether real or imagined, are seen in such numbers just at a time when humankind is menaced as never before in history. The UFOs represent, in Jung's phrase, "a modern myth."

Synopsis Flying Saucers in the Holy Bible by : Timothy G. Beckley
Angels? Demons? Extraterrestrials? A sign of the 'Second Coming'? A Religious Leader... A Biblical Scholar... A UFO Researcher... And An Emmy Award Winning Journalist reveal: The Bible is full of descriptions of UFOs that interacted with the Prophets of the Old and New Testaments. For the first time five experts in their individual fields re-examine the Holy text in light of our current knowledge of space travel and UFO related phenomenon, offering a number of startling conclusions: The Tower of Babel was a spaceport presided over by godless scientists; God once walked the Earth in physical form; The Star of Bethlehem in all probability was flying saucer ushering in His arrival; The parting of the Red Sea was a miracle performed by extraterrestrials who had befriended the Israelites and 'levitated' them across the Red Sea; That a giant spacecraft could possibly have landed upon Mount Sinai and given Moses the 10 Commandments. Furthermore, there is evidence says a member of our investigative team that at least one known Biblical figure went for a ride in a UFO. It is also revealed that God may still be communicating to an 'inspired few' members of a secret society that may possess a device that acts as sort of a 'transceiver' between the Lord and the 'Chosen Few'. And that members of the Royal Family of England believe thy have a 'direct link' to Higher Realms as they are in possession of a stone with magical properties which is used as a pillow which now rests in Westminster Abbey, upon which Kings an Queens have been crowned for centuries.

Synopsis Envisioning Howard Finster by : Norman J. Girardot
The Reverend Howard Finster (1916–2001) was called the "backwoods William Blake" and the "Andy Warhol of the South," and he is considered the godfather of contemporary American folk and visionary art. This book is the first interpretive analysis of the intertwined artistic and religious significance of Finster’s work within the context of the American "outsider art" tradition. Finster began preaching as a teenager in the South in the 1930s. But it was not until he received a revelation from God at the age of sixty that he began to make sacred art. A modern-day Noah who saw his art as a religious crusade to save the world before it was too late, Finster worked around the clock, often subsisting on a diet of peanut butter and instant coffee. He spent the last years of his life feverishly creating his environmental artwork called Paradise Garden and what would ultimately number almost fifty thousand works of "bad and nasty art." This was visionary work that obsessively combined images and text and featured apocalyptic biblical imagery, flying saucers from outer space, and popular cultural icons such as Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Henry Ford, Mona Lisa, and George Washington. In the 1980s and 90s, he developed cult celebrity status, and he appeared in the Venice Biennale and on the Tonight Show. His work graced the album covers of bands such as R.E.M. and Talking Heads. This book explores the life and religious-artistic significance of Finster and his work from the personal perspective of religion scholar Norman Girardot, friend to Finster and his family during the later years of the artist’s life.

Synopsis The Flying Saucers are Real by : Donald E. Keyhoe
The Flying Saucers Are Real by Donald Keyhoe, printed in 1950, is one of the first books investigating numerous encounters between the United States Air Force fighters, personnel, and other aircraft and UFOs between 1947 and 1950. The author contended that the Air Force was investigating these cases of close encounters, with a policy of concealing. Keyhoe also said that Earth had been visited by extraterrestrials for two centuries, with the frequency of these visits increasing sharply after the first atomic weapon test in 1945.
