Synopsis Scouting on Two Continents by : Frederick Russell Burnham
All England cheered this modest American. He acquired his scouting lore warring against Apaches in Arizona. After hunting gold in the Northwest and the Klondike he rode deep into the savage territory of Africa to slay the M’Limo, treacherous Matabele high priest. During the Boer War he performed many thrilling exploits as chief of Scouts. He was honored in the friendship of Lord Roberts, Theodore Roosevelt, Cecil Rhodes, and Dr. Jameson and received the highest honors of the British Empire. In this book he tells in full detail the fascinating story of his thrilling and varied career. “In real life he is more interesting than any of my heroes of romance”—SIR RIDER HAGGARD “I have seldom been as much taken with a narrative”—REAR ADMIRAL WM. S. SIMS, U.S.N. “I have read it all with enthralled interest”—THEODORE ROOSEVELT “England was never made by her statesmen; England was made by her adventurers.”—GENERAL GORDON.

Synopsis The Sons of Allen by : Rev. Horace Talbert
Published in 1906 by Rev. Horace Talbert, some fifty years after slavery ended, AME church history comes to life through profiles of 122 men-faithful devotees, or spiritual "sons" of Bishop Richard Allen, founder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Founded in 1816, the AME church was the first organized African American denomination in the United States. These sterling portraits of the "sons of Allen," mostly AME pastors, but also leading black men from other areas of industry, awaken the dreamer within... In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the AME church, the descendants of the author have reissued this remarkable book, which includes a "Sketch" by Rev. Talbert about his beloved alma mater Wilberforce University. This edition also has new material from Talbert's family members: a preface from Mrs. Suesetta Talbert McCree, a granddaughter of Rev. Talbert, believed to be the last surviving member of her generation; and a foreword by Rev. Malcolm Hassan Stephens, an Itinerant Elder of the AME Church and a great-great grandson of Rev. Talbert. The Sons of Allen is excellent primary source material for those interested in AME Church history, African American history, American history and genealogy. All readers will be inspired by the lives these men set forth to live, encouraged by the AME motto: "God our Father, Christ our redeemer, the Holy Spirit our comforter, Humankind our family."

Synopsis The clamour of nationalism by : Sivamohan Valluvan
Nationalism has reasserted itself today as the political force of our times, remaking European politics wherever one looks. Britain is no exception, and in the midst of Brexit, it has even become a vanguard of nationalism’s confident return to the mainstream. Intellectual attempts to account for nationalism’s resurgence have however floundered. Desperately trying to read nationalism through one overarching cause – as capitalist crisis, as cultural backlash, or as social media led anti-Establishment politics – these accounts have proven woefully inadequate. This book argues that the only way to understand nationalism is through nationalism itself. To understand it as the key force of modernity that calls upon all existing ideological traditions in asserting its appeal: whether it is liberal, conservative, neoliberal or left-wing. This ideological clamour that characterises today’s British nationalism requires both recognition and theorisation. A meaningful understanding of new nationalism must reckon with the ideological range animating it and the deeply hostile aversion to different racial minorities that pervades its respective ideologies. Drawing on a variety of cultural and political themes – ranging from Corbyn’s dithering, the cult of Churchillism, the neoliberal fixation with a ‘point-system’ immigration policy, the muscular secularism of Richard Dawkins and friends, fears that the white working class have ‘become black’, and even simply the strange appeal of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones – this book provides a dazzling but always detailed study of how nationalism is the politics of today only because it is a politics of everything.
