Synopsis Jail Time by : Michael Frantz
Jai l Time, What you need to know... ...Before you go to federal pr i son Jail Time was a book I never wanted to write. Federal Prison was a place I never wanted to be. Sometimes things just happen that you really can't explain or even know why they happened. They just do. Life is funny that way- one day you are on top of the world and the next day you're in a bottomless pit-you think. But later you discover that the pit's bottom is even deeper. There are many challenges facing those individuals entering federal prison. These challenges are not easy, but they are controllable. Controllable, if you have the proper knowledge, resources, and motivation. The motivation is to get home to your family as soon as possible. This is where Jail Time can help. Jail Time offers solutions to the problems that men and women facing federal incarceration are confronted with. Jail Time provides a wealth of information to help families get through their ordeal together and get the offender back home in the shortest possible amount of time. Born into an impoverished and broken family in Ohio, Michael Frantz studied diligently and graduated with honors from Denison University in Granville, Ohio. He continued his studies and earned a post graduate degree from Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy with highest honors. With little or no money he started his own home medical equipment business in 1980 and grew it in sales to over $7,000,000 a year. At the height of his business he had six locations in five different Ohio cities. In October of 2002 the FBI raided all six of his stores in what was to become a two year legal and emotional nightmare. They alleged Medicare and tax fraud. In 2004 Mr. Frantz reluctantly accepted a plea agreement and was eventually sentenced in July of 2005 to 51 months in the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) in Miami, Florida. He spent nearly 16 months there. Later he was transferred to the adjacent low security Federal Correctional Institution (FCI). In 2008, he won his appeal and was released from federal prison on July 18, 2008 after serving nearly 36 months in federal confinement. This, as he likes to say, was a life and career changing experience.

Synopsis Get Real with Storytime by : Julie Dietzel-Glair
This is a complete, year-long programming guide that shows librarians how to integrate nonfiction and poetry into storytime for preschool children in order to build literacy skills and overall knowledge. The right nonfiction titles—ones with colorful photographs and facts that are interesting to young imaginations—give librarians an opportunity to connect with children who are yearning for "true stuff." Presenting poetry in storytime encourages a love of language and the chance to play with words. Written by authors with a combined 25 years of experience working with children and books in a library setting, Get Real With Storytime: 52 Weeks of Early Literacy Programming goes far beyond the typical storytime resource book by providing books and great ideas for using nonfiction and poetry with preschool children. This book provides a complete, year-long programming guide for librarians who work with preschool children in public libraries and school librarians who run special programs for preschoolers as well as parents, childcare providers, and camp counselors. Each of the 52 broad storytime topics (one for each week of the year) includes a sample storytime featuring an opening poem; a nonfiction title; picture books; songs, rhymes, or fingerplays; and a follow-up activity. Early literacy tips that are based on the authors' extensive experience and the principles of Every Child Ready to Read (ECRR) are presented throughout the book.

Synopsis The Base of the Pyramid Promise by : Ted London
As economic growth slows in the developed world, the base of the pyramid (BoP) represents perhaps the last great, untapped market. Of the world's 7 billion inhabitants, around 4 billion live in low-income markets in the developing world. These 4 billion people deserve—and, increasingly, are demanding—better lives. At the same time, the business community seeks new opportunities for growth, and the development community is striving to increase its impact. With these forces converging, the potential for mutual value creation is tremendous. This book provides a roadmap for realizing that potential. Drawing on over 25 years of experience across some eighty countries, Ted London offers concrete guidelines for how to build better enterprises while simultaneously alleviating poverty. He outlines three key components that must be integrated to achieve results: the lived experiences of enterprises to date—both successes and failures; the development of an ecosystem that is conducive to market creation; and the voices of the poor, so that entrants can truly understand what poverty alleviation is about. London provides aspiring market leaders and their stakeholders with the tools and techniques needed to succeed in the unique, opportunity-rich BoP.

Synopsis Survey of English Dialects by : Michael V. Barry
First Published in 1994. The Survey of English Dialects (SED) is the only detailed nation-wide dialect survey which has ever been conducted in England. The SED is a unique repository of data on the traditional dialects of England in the mid-twentieth century. This remarkable record is a valuable resource for scholars in the fields of British English dialectology, sociolinguistics, and English historical linguistics. The SED fieldwork was undertaken in predominantly rural communities in England in the middle of the twentieth century, at a time when social, domestic and working life was undergoing very significant changes. The SED is thus a record of speech which reflects a society different in many ways from today, and as such affords the possibility of comparison which is instructive to those engaged in all types of study of linguistics today.
