Synopsis Shift by : Abby McDonald
If we want to see God in the midst of our struggles, we have to change the way we look for him. There is no denying that miracles, answers to prayer, and abundant blessings testify to God’s presence. When the desires of our hearts are filled, it’s easy to see him. But what about the seasons when he seems invisible? Scripture tells us God never sleeps, but it is easy to feel like he is not attuned to our needs. Shift explores the life-changing truth that when we adjust our lens to focus our eyes on God rather than on what we wish we were seeing in our lives, he reveals himself to us. In fact, those moments when he seems invisible to us are often when others see him the most in us. When Jesus walked the earth, he looked to God for his earthly needs. Jesus had deep a relationship with the Father that fueled his mission, his purpose, and his effectiveness. Scripture tells us that we can have that too. But there is a shift that needs to take place in our hearts and minds. No matter our circumstances, we can see God in our lives—right here, right now.

Synopsis Leadership Coaching by : Graham Lee
Effective leadership coaching can drastically improve performance. However, good coaching is more than just passing on your own business experience. Developing authentic leadership through coaching is about changing deeply personal, often unconscious, elements of a manager's behaviour. In Leadership Coaching, Graham Lee explains to coaches how to be more sophisticated in their understanding of psychology and how to develop the skills needed to work on both the psychological and the practical elements of improving managerial performance. Leadership Coaching sets out a five-stage coaching model, and works through each of these stages in detail, highlighting the skills that coaches require and the issues they are likely to face. It also offers HR managers sponsoring coaching an understanding of the competencies necessary for effective coaching and provides a standard procedure for buying in coaching services. Supported by a wide range of case studies throughout the book, this is valuable reading for both in-house and external coaches looking to effectively develop leaders and managers in organizations.

Synopsis Therapist's Journey by : Robert Taibbi
"I wrote this volume as a guidebook to the clinical life wherever you are starting from. The goal is to help you feel a bit less overwhelmed or unsure how to start; to provide some basic but also some not-so-basic information so that you don't feel quite so disoriented on a bad day; to help you not only know how to handle those emergencies but also understand what is normal and common, so you are not fraught with anxiety and can professionally and emotionally hit the ground running so that your journey becomes the one you envisioned way back when. To do this you need to be proactive and take control of your life, go after what you want and need, and do what you have to do. In other words, the goal is to help you feel more grounded, help you see what you might overlook or need to appreciate, navigate the unexpected, look beyond this one day to imagine the many days to come. One of my goals is to create a reading environment that feels more like a conversation than presentation. To do that I've used a mix of pronouns throughout, an informal writing style, and included a number of clinical examples that are fictional and composite clients drawn from my experience. Finally, you'll find questions at the end of many chapters. These are invitations for you to reflect on your clinical skills, your career, the ways your values and personality may impact your work. I hope you'll pause and consider them"--

Synopsis Intonation by : A. Botinis
ANTONIS BOTINIS 1. 1 Background This introduction provides essential information about the structure and the objects of study of this volume. Following the introduction, fourteen papers which represent current research on intonation are organised into five thematic sections: (I) Overview of Intonation, (II) Prominence and Focus, (III) Boundaries and Discourse, (IV) Intonation Modelling, and (V) Intonation Technology. Within the sections the papers are arranged thematically, although several papers which deal with various aspects of intonation and prosody are basically intersectional. As the title indicates, "Intonation: Analysis, Modelling and Technology" is a contribution to the study of prosody, with major emphasis on intonation. Intonation and tonal themes are thus the central object of the volume, although temporal and dynamic aspects are also taken into consideration by a good number of papers. Although tonal and prosodic distinctions have been dealt with throughout man's literate history with reference to the study of language, for example by classical philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle, it is in recent decades that we have witnessed the most fertile growth in intonation studies, as with experimental phonetics and speech technology in general. As Rossi (this volume) points out, intonation research really began to blossom in the sixties with a multi fold increase in prosodic studies, reflected in contributions to the International Congress of Phonetic Sciences (ICPhS), and in the international literature.
