Synopsis Sherlock Holmes Vs. Professor Moriarty - Complete Collection (Illustrated) by : Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Professor James Moriarty is a criminal mastermind whom Holmes describes as the "Napoleon of crime" and considers him his archenemy. Moriarty is a crime lord who protects nearly all of the criminals of England in exchange for their obedience and a share in their profits. "The Valley of Fear" - Holmes gets led to Moriarty by his perception that many of the crimes he investigated were not isolated incidents, but instead the machinations of a vast and subtle criminal ring. One of Moriarty's agents sends cipher to Holmes, but doesn't give him the key. Holmes manages to decipher the message and must prevent Moriarty's agents from committing a murder. "The Final Problem" - Holmes is on the verge of delivering a fatal blow to Moriarty's criminal ring, but is forced to flee to continental Europe to escape Moriarty's retribution. The criminal mastermind follows, and the pursuit ends on top of the Reichenbach Falls, where the two are involved in a deadly struggle. "The Adventure of the Empty House" - Watson bumps into a wizened old book collector, who follows him home to his Kensington practice study then drops his disguise - it is Holmes. Holmes tells him how he beat Moriarty and apologizes for the deception needed to outwit his enemies. Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was a British writer best known for his detective fiction featuring the character Sherlock Holmes. Doyle is also known for writing the fictional adventures of Professor Challenger and for propagating the mystery of the Mary Celeste. He was a prolific writer whose other works include fantasy and science fiction stories, plays, romances, poetry, non-fiction and historical novels.

Synopsis The Moriarty Papers by : Colonel Sebastian Moran
The infamous Professor James Moriarty is a brooding presence in all of the adventures of celebrated British detective Sherlock Holmes. Yet his actions are described only once in "The Final Problem", when he and Holmes wrestle on the brink of the Reichenbach Falls and he gets scant mention in five other reports. So who exactly was Moriarty? A power-crazed mathematician, as described by Arthur Conan Doyle? The public face of an underground brotherhood? Or the cocaine-induced Hyde to Holmes' Jekyll? The Moriarty Papers hold the key. Assembled after Moriarty's death by his head of Security Operations, Colonel Sebastian Moran, these unique documents confirm Moriarty as the supervillain that Holmes took him for. Indeed, they reveal him to be a criminal mastermind. Read this book and discover the darkest of secrets of Sherlock Holmes's arch rival.

Synopsis The Raven (Illustrated) by : Edgar Allan Poe
This Top Five Classics illustrated edition of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven includes: • All 25 illustrations by Gustave Doré for Harper & Brothers’ 1884 edition • An informative Introduction • A detailed Biography of Edgar Allan Poe • The illustrated version and text-only version of the full poem No poem has ever received the kind of immediate and overwhelming response that Poe’s “The Raven” did when it first appeared in the New York Evening Mirror on January 29, 1845. It made Poe an overnight sensation (though his great fame never brought him much wealth) and the poem, a powerfully haunting elegy to lost love, remains one of the most beloved and recognizable verses in the English language. The illustrations that accompany this Top Five Classics edition are reproductions of the renowned French artist Gustave Doré’s steel-plate engravings created for Harper & Brothers’ 1884 release of The Raven. It would be Doré’s last commission as he died shortly after completing the 25 illustrations in January 1883. His illustrations would become famous in their own right, evoking as they do the lyrical and mystical air of Poe’s masterpiece.
