Synopsis Selective Concentration of a Complex Ore by Flotation by : Paul Frederick Pape
"The problem of the Mining Engineer and Metallurgical Engineer who wishes to treat the slimes and fine sands of a complex ore is the recovery and separation of minerals so as to render a subsequent treatment of any mineral profitable. The minerals must be separated into groups which can be treated by different processes, because a combination of numerous minerals is extremely undesirable at the smelting plant. In a lead ore the presence of zinc often depletes its value to such an extent that it is unprofitable to treat it; likewise with other minerals and ores. Many systems of selective separation of slimes and fine sand have been tried but with little success. The latest attempt towards this end has been by means of the flotation process. The eagerness to separate the minerals of a complex sulphide ore is seen in a retrospection of the great number of patents that have been issued. These patents bring into consideration, a vast number of chemical solutions which are used as selectors in the flotation process. The object of our experiment work was to find the best method of selective flotation adaptable to a particulate ore at hand"--Introduction, leaf [3].

Synopsis Advances in Selective Flotation and Leaching Process in Metallurgy by : Ilhwan Park
Metals are necessary to maintaining living standards in modern society, due to their countless applications in transportation, building and construction, household appliances, electronic devices, etc. Therefore, humans' generation and consumption of metals is considerable, and demand is projected to skyrocket continuously as technology advances. Unfortunately, easily exploitable ore deposits have been depleted, which forces mining industries to develop complex ore deposits with low-grade and fine grain sizes to meet the high forecasted demand for metals. In general, metals can be extracted from ores in two ways; either by the concentration of valuable minerals via flotation followed by smelting, or by direct extraction of metals from ores via leaching followed by purification and recovery processes. The first stages in each scenario, flotation and leaching are, therefore, of crucial importance to ensuring the continued supply of metals. This book is a compilation of a Special Issue of Metals, entitled "Advances in Selective Flotation and Leaching Process in Metallurgy", where 12 papers contributed by experts in the area were published. Papers published in this Special Issue cover a wide range of topics, including flotation, microencapsulation, agglomeration, leaching, solvent extraction, electrowinning, precipitation, and cementation. All the papers are of high scientific value and will be of great interest to the readers of Metals.

Synopsis Selective Flotation of Enargite from Copper Sulphides in Complex Ore Systems by : Maedeh Tayebi-Khorami
Recent research has demonstrated promising results showing the possibility of separating arsenic-copper sulphides from other copper minerals by controlling the potential of the flotation pulp. Most of these studies were conducted on single mineral systems, and the selective removal of arsenic-copper minerals in real ore systems is not well understood. In real ore systems, the efficiency of the separation strongly depends on the mineralogical characteristics of the ore samples. This study seeks to understand the effect of ore mineralogy on the floatability of enargite in a complex ore system, under a controlled potential flotation environment.
