Synopsis Seeing Whole by : Asbjørn Grønstad
Seeing Whole: Toward an Ethics and Ecology of Sight explores the ways in which seeing as an embodied process is always a multivalent, ambiguous, and holistic undertaking. Looking at an image entails the mobilization of a range of affordances that together produce sight and insight as a phenomenological experience, namely cultural predispositions, geographical situatedness, medium specificity, personal biography, socio-political relationality, and corporeal affectibility. In their own diverse ways, the essays in this book suggest that acts of seeing make up a visual ecology that, in turn, introduces a new ethical horizon distinct from, but in continuous interaction with ,conventional ethics. Spanning a great variety of media forms – from painting and photography to film, video, literature, fashion, graffiti, and installation art – this interdisciplinary collection offers a thorough reconceptualization of the relation between the aesthetics and the ethics of images and represents an innovative addition to the field of visual culture studies.

Synopsis Seeing All Things Whole by : David L. McKenna
Imagine an unwanted child from a loveless home becoming president of three institutions of Christian higher education with a voice for world Wesleyan leader-ship.This is the life story of David McKenna. Beginning as a child growing up in a radical Holiness tabernacle, he survived that experience,, enrolled in a Christian college, discovered the healthy meaning of holiness, achieved the highest academic degree, and received his calling to ministry. As the youngest college president in the nation, he took Spring Arbor Junior College to a four-year Christian liberal arts institution. The call then came to the presidency of Seattle Pacific College, where financial crisis required turnaround management before advancing to status as a Christian university. God’s call then took McKenna to the presidency of Asbury Theological Seminary, renowned among seminaries for both biblical preaching and world missions in its Wesleyan heritage. McKenna retired from the presidency in 1994 in order to give full attention to his love for writing. Forty-six books confirm his legacy to the Free Methodist Church, the world Wesleyan movement and, especially, Christian higher education.

Synopsis First Steps to Seeing by : Emma Kidd
In the twenty-first century we are confronted with a rapidly changing world full of social, economic and environmental uncertainties. We are all inherently connected to this changing world and in order to create the best possible conditions for life to thrive, we must each develop an inner capacity to respond and adapt to life in new, creative and innovative ways. The author of this visionary book argues that the path to a happy, healthy and peaceful world begins with the individual. By learning to recognise our cognitive habits of interrupting and defining life through our fixed ideas, labels and judgements, we can begin to develop a dynamic way of seeing that enables us to perceive and respond to life with greater attentiveness. First Steps in Seeing reveals a practical set of stepping stones that guide the reader into this dynamic way of seeing and relating. Using personal stories, practical exercises and real-world case studies in development, education and business, the author takes the reader on a journey to explore how to give our full attention to life, and how to enliven the world that we each co-create. An inspiring guide for all those working for social change in youth work, business, education or research, or simply seeking fresh paths in life.
