Synopsis Saturday Surprise by : Ann Bell Worley
Meet Will Howard, an intense kid who knows what he wants: a day at the beach with his mom, dad, and sister, Lizzie. For Will, waiting to go is hard enough! What will happen when stormy weather spoils the family's plan?Saturday Surprise is the first in a series of children's books featuring an intense young boy named Will and his daily challenges--and triumphs--with emotional regulation and self-control. The series, Everyday Miracles, is grounded in the Nurtured Heart Approach®, a relationship-based methodology to help children discover their self-worth and channel their intensity in positive ways. The first of its kind--a narrative depiction of the Nurtured Heart Approach--Saturday Surprise is more than a typical children's book; it is an excellent resource for parents, teachers, and all manner of professionals who work with children and youth. (For more information on the Nurtured Heart Approach, see Transforming the Difficult Child: The Nurtured Heart Approach, by founder Howard Glasser.)

Synopsis Surprise! by : Vincent P. Magnini
Modern consumers are being bombarded with in-formation from every angle. They can’t handle it and, consequently, tune out large portions of the information. Consumers, therefore, often enter service transactions with predetermined men-tal scripts regarding how they predict the trans-actions will transpire and are not paying close attention. In order to gain their full attention, firms must find ways to surprise consumers dur-ing transactions; that is, firms must spawn mental script deviations for them. Research indicates that these script deviations can cement consumer loyalty. This book details how to create a surprise culture in a service firm. Because a consumer can only be “surprised” by a given tactic one time and surprise ideas can be copied by competitors, a firm with a culture that generates and implements a constant stream of surprise tactics is one that has the higher edge in achieving success in the modern envi-ronment of information overload.
