Synopsis The Sabbath by : Abraham Joshua Heschel

Elegant, passionate, and filled with the love of God's creation, Abraham Joshua Heschel's The Sabbath has been hailed as a classic of Jewish spirituality ever since its original publication--and has been read by thousands of people seeking meaning in modern life. In this brief yet profound meditation on the meaning of the Seventh Day, Heschel, one of the most widely respected religious leaders of the twentieth century, introduced the influential idea of an 'architecture of holiness" that appears not in space but in time. Judaism, he argues, is a religion of time: it finds meaning not in space and the materials things that fill it but in time and the eternity that imbues it, so that 'the Sabbaths are our great catherdrals.' Synopsis All About The SABBATHS by : Unknown Hebrew

Have you ever noticed in the Old Testament history that every time the true worship of YAHUAH was restored in Israel or Judah, the keeping of ELOHIM's weekly Sabbath and His annual holy days was also resumed and emphasized? In 2nd Chronicles 30, we see an example of this; every time true worship was restored in ancient Israel or Judah, you saw the Sabbath command and the Holy Days observance. Recall, Josiah, this righteous King; what do you suppose happened in Judah after he died? Once again, Judah's people lost sight of ELOHIM; they lost sight of ELOHIM's commandments; they lost sight of the Sabbath command of YAHUAH's annual holy day and His seventh weekly day Sabbath. As a result, they ended up going into captivity. If we keep going forward in history during the days of their return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple (Ezra 6) when they again restored true worship, what did they do? They started keeping the annual holy days; they started following the Sabbath of YAHUAH (weekly and yearly Sabbaths); again, it is the same story. Similarly, we find this in the New Testament times. When we fail to observe ELOHIM's annual Sabbaths; we as a nation are without knowledge; we need to look at that Sabbath command and uphold it; emphasize it, and get back to the true worship of the Great Creator YAHUAH. Many people have different views about how the Sabbath day should be remembered and honored. It is critical that one of the first steps is to know the meaning of the word that ELOHIM chose to use. "Sabbath" is from the Hebrew word “Shabbat,” which means to cease to desist from something or to rest, to become inactive. Sabbath-keeping was not a new instruction for Israel; at Mount Sinai, ELOHIM had already set it up back in Eden. In the fourth commandment, YAHUAH told Israel to remember what had been their duty from the beginning: take a look at the book of Exodus 20:8-11, which says, “8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of YAHUAH thy ELOHIM: in it, thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days ELOHIM made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore ELOHIM blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” ELOHIM never set aside our duty to keep the creation Sabbath; after the resurrection, the Apostles continued to honor it, as did YAHUSHUA during his time here on earth. It is perpetual, forever to be kept; until the end. Please consider scrolling up and clicking the “buy now” button to learn more. This book is a must-read.

Synopsis Sabbath by : Bonnie Saul Wilks

The Sabbath has always been a sacred day in Jewish culture, but with the pressures and demands of modern life, it can become harder and harder to honor the time of quiet and respect that comprises the Sabbath. Bonnie Saul Wilks encourages believers not to succumb to this apathy. After spending years studying Jewish culture and practice, Bonnie committed to keeping the Sabbath holy and observing the rites that had become almost obscure in the world today. In her book, Sabbath, Bonnie discusses what makes the seventh day special; and through current traditions, songs, and Sabbath recipes, demonstrates how it can truly be a time of rest and communion with family and God. Join Bonnie in her rediscovery of an ancient ritual and see just how the Sabbath can be A Gift of Time. After graduating from Bible school, Bonnie moved to Israel where she lived on a kibbutz for over two years. She learned Hebrew and grew to love the Jewish culture by interfacing with Israelis on a daily basis. Wayne and Bonnie have one twenty-one-year-old daughter.

Synopsis Rhythms of Rest by : Shelly Miller

An Inspiring, Practical Guide to Finding Rest and Getting Closer to God Sabbath-keeping not only brings physical refreshment, it restores the soul. God commands us to "remember the Sabbath," but is it realistic in today's fast-paced culture? In this warm and helpful book, Shelly Miller dispels legalistic ideas about Sabbath and shows how even busy people can implement a rhythm of rest into their lives--whether for an hour, a morning, or a whole day. With encouraging stories from people in different stages in life, Miller shares practical advice for having peaceful, close times with God. You will learn simple ways to be intentional about rest, ideas for tuning out distractions and tuning in God, and even how meals and other times with friends and family can be Sabbath experiences. Ultimately, this book is an invitation to those who long for rest but don't know how to make it a reality. Sabbath is a gift from God to be embraced, not a spiritual hoop to jump through.
