Synopsis Resurrecting Trash by : Doug Haines
The Phoenix Commotion is a local building initiative created to prove that constructing homes with recycled and salvaged materials has a viable place in the building industry. This process uses only apprentice labor and teaches marketable skills to anyone with a work ethic who is willing to swing a hammer. By keeping labor costs low and using donated or found materials, the homes created are truly affordable. (www.phoenixcommotion.com) This book is an examination of the history of Phoenix Commotion and the philosopy of Dan Phillips, the prime mover of the enterprise. Here readers will be introduced to the major projects of Phillips and Phoenix Commotion: the story behind them and the specifics of these unique structures, complete with black-and-white and color plates.

Synopsis Resurrection by : Daniel Madsen
Aimed at the general reader with an interest in World War II and the U.S. Navy, this book looks at the massive salvage effort that followed the attack on Pearl Harbor, beginning with the damage control efforts aboard the sinking and damaged ships in the harbor on 7 December 1941 and ending in March 1944 when salvage efforts on the USS Utah were finally abandoned. Dan Madsen describes the Navy's dramatic race to clear the harbor and repair as many ships as possible so they could return to the fleet ready for war. Numerous photographs, many never before published in books for the general public, give readers a real appreciation for the momentous task involved, from the raising of the USS Oglala in 1942 and the USS Oklahoma in 1943 to the eventual dismantling of the above-water portions of the USS Arizona.

Synopsis The Resurrection and Immortality by : William West
THE RESURRECTION AND IMMORTALITY Is man born with an immortal soul, or do the saved put on immortality at the resurrection? This is one of the most important questions of all times. It has more influence on our conception of our nature, our view of life in this world, and life after death, the nature of God, than any other question. The resurrection and an undying immortal soul are not compatible. If one is true, then the other one cannot be. YOUR WHOLE THEOLOGY [what you believe] IS DETERMINED BY YOUR VIEW OF THE SOUL. Not only does man now having an immortal soul make the resurrection impossible, it makes the judgment be passed; and the second coming of Christ pointless for there could not be a resurrection or a judgment at His coming. The resurrection doctrine of unconditional immortality are contradictory to each other. You must choose one or the other. You cannot believe both. Christ taught the resurrection. It is our only hope of life after death, not now having immortality and never dying. The undead cannot be raised. If the soul is immortal and never dies ----- there cannot be a resurrection of those not dead If there is to be a resurrection of the dead the dead cannot be alive, cannot be living immortal souls The doctrine of unconditional immortality: Changes the nature of God, makes Him cruel and sadistic Changes the message we preach to the lost and their fate, whether they will have an eternal life with torment or a second death form which there will never be a resurrection Changes the nature of man, whether he is now mortal or immortal Changes the nature of the resurrection of Christ, whether He was dead and raised by God or only His earthly body was dead and He justcame back from Heaven to it Changes the nature of our resurrection, whether we are dead and resurrected or just come back from somewhere The resurrection an immortal soul. The wages of sin is death the wages of sin is an eternal life of torment.

Synopsis Resurrection by : David Remnick
Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Remnick chronicles the new Russia that emerged from the ash heap of the Soviet Union. From the siege of Parliament to the farcically tilted elections of 1996, from the rubble of Grozny to the grandiose wealth and naked corruption of today's Moscow, Remnick chronicles a society so racked by change that its citizens must daily ask themselves who they are, where they belong, and what they believe in. Remnick composes this panorama out of dozens of finely realized individual portraits. Here is Mikhail Gorbachev, his head still swimming from his plunge from reverence to ridicule. Here is Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the half-Jewish anti-Semite who conducts politics as loony performance art. And here is Boris Yeltsin, the tottering populist who is not above stealing elections. In Resurrection, they become the players in a drama so vast and moving that it deserves comparison with the best reportage of George Orwell and Michael Herr. "This is what happens when a good writer unleashes eye and ear on a story that moves with the speed of light. Resurrection has the feel of describing vast, historical change even as it is happening."--Chicago Tribune

He is turning fifty, his marriage to Nilda is in its death throes, and his career is winding down. Lawrence finds joy and comfort in the strong relationships he has built with his three children, Thomasina, Meredith, and Nathan, who is about to make his Major League debut as a pitcher for the expansion Kentucky Colonels. However, a twist of fate sends Lawrence's life in a completely unexpected direction. Lawrence forges a new beginning as a farmer in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He is surrounded by odd and quirky characters, including Martin "Soaring Hawk" Tuttle, an unwelcome squatter on Lawrence's land, and Abraham and Doreen Redfeather, a divorced Native American couple who become Lawrence's closest friends. He also meets the enigmatic Jasper Crowley, who appears at the most unexpected times. Lawrence encounters multiple complications in trying to live a simple life in the country. He explores a potential romance with his former protégé, Kelly Larson, and forms an unlikely friendship with Catalina de la Huerta, a former beauty queen who is now a veterinarian, as well as the younger sister of Nilda, who has her own mysterious past. Synopsis The Resurrection of the Body by : Armando Maggi
Italian novelist, poet, and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini was brutally killed in Rome in 1975, a macabre end to a career that often explored humanity’s capacity for violence and cruelty. Along with the mystery of his murderer’s identity, Pasolini left behind a controversial but acclaimed oeuvre as well as a final quartet of beguiling projects that signaled a radical change in his aesthetics and view of reality. The Resurrection of the Body is an original and compelling interpretation of these final works: the screenplay Saint Paul, the scenario for Porn-Theo-Colossal, the immense and unfinished novel Petrolio, and his notorious final film, Salò or the 120 Days of Sodom, a disturbing adaptation of the writings of the Marquis de Sade. Together these works, Armando Maggi contends, reveal Pasolini’s obsession with sodomy and its role within his apocalyptic view of Western society. One of the first studies to explore the ramifications of Pasolini’s homosexuality, The Resurrection of the Body also breaks new ground by putting his work into fruitful conversation with an array of other thinkers such as Freud, Strindberg, Swift, Henri Michaux, and Norman O. Brown.

Synopsis The Resurrection as a Messianic Anticipation by : Carlos Mendoza-Álvarez
One of the temptations of the preacher is to make all conversations about grace too “nice”. But a true preacher of grace, like Carlos, knows that this does not help people grow in faith at all. In this book, Carlos continues his ambitious, multi-volume quest to make it possible to live the Christian faith authentically without either dumbing down our intelligence or forcing us into a Stockholm syndrome of speaking “well” while tamping down the realities through which we are really living. Hence, Carlos has put his nets deep into the life experiences of different groups of those who have lost, of those for whom the outrage of death is a constant reality, and who have had to learn a new language in order to speak at all. All this is in service of giving us a sense of how much of a shake-up truly theological faith in the resurrection is when it is discovered on the inside by those who have found themselves caught up in an an-archic uprising of hope. I learned much from this book. –James Alison, priest and theologian. Feast of St Dominic, 2024. The Resurrection as a Messianic Anticipation signals the road ahead for political and liberation theologies. We can and must place our hope in the resurrection even as the world around us continues to collapse, as the specter of global violence escalates, and as the body counts mount. This prescient, scholarly work faces directly the horrors of our time and uncovers a credible theological response among the survivors. It is a must-read. – Nancy Pineda-Madrid, Loyola Marymount University This powerful book calls us to rise up against death and senseless violence. It reclaims resurrection as a communal praxis of indomitable life. It cries out with the victims of history and remembers their radiant hopes of ecstatic transformation. It is revolutionary in the best sense of the word. – Andrew Prevot, author of The Mysticism of Ordinary Life: Theology, Philosophy and Feminism The first part of a trilogy on the idea of tradition, The Resurrection as a Messianic Anticipation, proposes a theology of new life from a postmodern and decolonial perspective. This investigation of the resurrection’s foundational event starts from the analysis of intersubjectivity in our times of extreme violence, based on the creative imagination deployed by the systemic victims. From this existential background, the author offers a creative reading of the Christian faith in the full life of the "Crucified One Awoke" dialoguing with the reason that arises from the social, cultural, and spiritual resistances that dismantle the violence produced by patriarchy, colonialism, and capitalism colluded with sacrificial religion. It will be followed by two volumes on the theology of tradition thought as a symbolic resistance and as a political sacramentality of the new world born from the reverse side of hegemonic history where it is possible to listen to the murmur of God thanks to the persons and communities that live the messianic times as a living tradition in constant transformation containing an ethical, political and spiritual task for all humanity. Carlos Mendoza-Álvarez OP is a Mexican theologian. He holds a doctorate in Fundamental Theology from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, where he also obtained his habilitation. His work proposes a Fundamental Theology where the Phenomenology of Subjectivity, Mimetic Theory, and Decolonial Thought converge in dialogue with Social Movements from the Global South. He is a full professor in the Theology Department at Boston College. He has published eight monographs, thirty chapters in collective works, and sixty articles in scientific journals. His books include a trilogy on the idea of revelation: Deus Liberans (Fribourg, 1996), Deus absconditus (Paris, 2011), and Deus ineffabilis (Barcelona, 2015).
