The title of this work--A Plain Account of Christian Faithfulness--is a play on John Wesley's famous book, A Plain Account of Christian Perfection. It reflects the focus, character, and actions of David B. McEwan, for whom this book has been dedicated. The essays have been written by scholars from around the globe, each focusing on an aspect of faithfulness from a Wesleyan perspective, and covering the broad disciplines of Bible, theology, history, and pastoral theology. This book has something for everyone, and ultimately invites the reader into deeper Christian faith and faithfulness.

Sanctification Renovation was inspired by my own journey through the Bible. I have considered myself a Christian for many years, and approximately five years ago, I decided I should know what the Holy Book says. Thus, I read my New International "Student" Version of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. I did not understand every word, story or situation, nor could I pronounce all the names, but I did manage to get a good general sense of the Word of God. From my studies, I discovered how God has been reaching out to His people from day one. He has used and continues to use many ways to display His authority, power, and grace. The fundamental principles of the Bible are timeless and transforming. No other book can compare to the Bible and no other being can compare to God, His Word, His Spirit, and His Son. The Christian experience is filled with ups and downs but how glorious to know He will ultimately prevail. Good will triumph evil! My challenge to anyone who reads this is to test your beliefs and examine what you live for. What would you be willing to die for? Ask deep questions-test your limits, get out of your comfort zone, and open your mind. If you are already a believer in Jesus Christ, I would challenge you to find your unique way to honor your faith and spread Godly characteristics. If you want to know more about the King of Kings, maybe you should pick up a Bible-it could change your life, death, and eternal fate.

Some have said the America is the most religious industrialized country in the world.6 The power of politics driven at least in part by religious concerns was demonstrated dramatically in the November election. But are people at this grassroots level- the ones most likely to suffer the consequences of political deafness regarding climate change- do they really understand the truth of the approaching environmental storm? If not, perhaps they will best learn new ways of thinking (and living) from those whom they hold in highest regard, their religious leaders, thinkers, teachers, writers and communicators. With "The Greening of Religion" we hope to have added to a life-saving public conversation, perhaps even started some conversations. And we hope those conversations will lead to actions which can shelter us from the inevitable, and perhaps turn us from calamity, even here at the last minute.

In Wesleyan Pneumatology, Pentecostal Mission, and the Missio Dei, Jody B. Fleming argues that missiology in a Wesleyan context has been heavily influenced by the Western worldview and needs renewal. Spirituality is central to living in many non-western cultures, integrated with the physical world of everyday life. Wesleyan traditions may need to renew and strengthen the pneumatology found in their mission theory and praxis. As the center of Christianity is shifting to the global south, Pentecostal and charismatic expressions of the faith are becoming more prominent. Without forfeiting their solid foundations, what might the Wesleyan traditions learn from their theological cousins about engagement with the Holy Spirit? How might pneumatology be renewed in order to address spiritual beliefs found in other cultures in both global and local settings? Renewal also includes the indigenous voice as essential for understanding cultural dynamics and spirituality. Contextualization is not new to missiology and so mission theory is explored from Latin American scholars as another point for renewal. Partnerships in mission and the role of the Holy Spirit are highlighted in the of field work conducted in Venezuela. In Renewing the Spark the author suggests that a fresh look at pneumatology will more effectively articulate the gospel in holistic and spirit-centered non-western cultures.
