Synopsis Re-Creating the Cretaceous by : Kurt M. V. Rich
HERE IS THE STORY HOLLYWOOD DOES NOT WANT YOU TO READ! Throughout the 1970's and 80's, the United States and other nations conducted numerous scientific experiments intent upon recovering and then replicating the DNA genomes of animals whose lives had been extinct for a period of over tens of thousands up to several millions of years. With no guidelines to follow and, even worse, no external monitoring, many formerly extinct life forms were eventually cloned and successfully re-created, but with deadly and destructive results. Most of the nations involved in such devastating experiments, including the United States, promptly responded by enacting highly controversial laws prohibiting both the research into replicating the DNA and the revival of such extinct creatures. While some nations reacted by passing bans on such research for twenty-five to fifty years, the United States enacted a ban of only twenty years, due to expire on January 1st, 2015. Other nations, including many third world countries, openly resisted the pressure put upon them by the larger nations and opted out of enacting any type of restrictions. Sensing a shift in popular opinion during the two years preceding the expiration of the ban, the United States Congress began to conduct numerous hearings on the matter, including collecting the testimony of nearly one hundred fifty of the nation's most prominent geneticists and scholars. Among the group invited to testify before Congress was Nicholas P. Heinz III, a thirty-two year old paleogeneticist and chairman of the highly esteemed research firm, "BioGen," BioGenetics International Technologies, LLC, in Cupertino, California. One of the last witnesses called to testify, Heinz had hoped his impassioned testimony and detailed documentation of the myriad benefits derived from DNA genome research would help to continue the momentum gained from earlier witnesses and would sway the Congress into letting the ban expire without being renewed. From Kurt M. V. Rich, the author of the critically acclaimed historical novel 'Chasing the Golden Hoard: The Story of the Lydian Hoard, ' 'Re-Creating the Cretaceous' invites you to investigate the story of scientific wonders intermingled with greed, arrogance, subterfuge, and a quest for power far beyond the imagination of Hollywood.

Synopsis The Lamb among the Stars Collection: The Shadow and Night / The Dark Foundations / The Infinite Day by : Chris Walley
This collection bundles Chris Walley’s entire epic Lamb among the Stars series into one e-book for a great value! #1 The Shadow and Night In the first book in the epic Lamb among the Stars series, author Chris Walley weaves the worlds of science and the spirit, technology and supernatural into something unique in science fiction. Twelve thousand years into the future, the human race has spread across the galaxy to hundreds of terraformed worlds. The effects of the Fall have been diminished by the Great Intervention, and peace and contentment reign under the gentle rule of the Assembly. But suddenly, almost imperceptibly, things begin to change. On the remotest planet of Farholme, Forester Merral D’Avanos hears one simple . . . lie. Slowly a handful of men and women begin to realize that evil has returned and must be fought. What will this mean for a people to whom war and evil are ancient history? Thus begins the epic that has been described as “If C. S. Lewis and Tolkien had written Star Wars.” The Shadow and Night was previously published in two volumes: The Shadow at Evening and The Power of the Night. #2 The Dark Foundations The Dark Foundations continues the epic story begun in The Shadow and Night. Far beyond the tranquility of the Assembly worlds, Nezhuala, Lord-Emperor of the Dominion, is preparing a merciless and crushing attack on Farholme as a prelude to an onslaught on the Assembly. Back on Farholme, Commander Merral D’Avanos recovers from his wounds after the battle at Fallambet where the intruders were destroyed. Yet even as Merral dreams of a return to peace, he receives a warning of imminent war on a massive scale he cannot ignore. Amid the urgent preparations for battle, Merral and his friends realize the inadequacy of their defenses. Then, with weeks to spare before the predicted eve of war, Merral receives an offer of assistance from the strangest of sources. But can it be trusted? As the wave of war finally crashes over Farholme, Merral must find the answer to other questions in the heat of battle: Can Farholme survive the growing internal strains? Who will pay the price for victory? Will his own weaknesses undo both him and his world? #3 The Infinite Day “Vero, you remember you once said there were people who would follow me to the gates of hell?” / “A figure of speech.” / “We’d better find them. That’s where we’re going.” / After the defeat of the evil Dominion forces at Farholme, Commander Merral D’Avanos prepares a task force to rescue thirty hostages captured by the fleeing Margrave Lezaroth. Merral’s only hope is that he can get to the hostages before they’re taken to Lord-Emperor Nezhuala at the Blade of Night—the nexus of the Dominion’s power. But in order to get there, Merral and his crew will have to survive a perilous trip through Below Space. Meanwhile, news of the Dominion’s defeat at Farholme reaches Ancient Earth but is tempered by the sobering truth of the enemy’s growth and strength. It is now clear that an attack on the Assembly is imminent, but how far should the Assembly go to stop it? And does the real danger lie in the Dominion or in the subtle evil that has arrived at the heart of the Assembly itself? The Infinite Day is the thrilling conclusion to the epic Lamb among the Stars series that has readers and critics raving.

Synopsis Ancient Earth Journal: The Early Cretaceous by : Juan Carlos Alonso
A 2016 Outstanding Science Trade Book for Students K-12 (National Science Teachers Association-Children's Book Council The Early Cretaceous brings readers closer to prehistoric life than ever before. What it would be like to see a living, breathing dinosaur? The Early Cretaceous brings readers closer to prehistoric life than ever before. By combining the latest paleontological findings with highly detailed, intimate drawings of wildlife from the Early Cretaceous, readers will look into the eyes of some of the most fascinating creatures to ever inhabit the earth. Written and illustrated in the style of a naturalist's notebook, the viewer will be given a first-hand account of what it is like to stand alongside everything from the first birds to flying dinosaurs to some of the largest creatures ever to walk the earth. Through detailed illustrations and descriptive narrative, readers will discover how some dinosaurs survived polar blizzards, while others were able to pump blood five stories high to reach their brains. While many books on prehistoric life lump dinosaurs into the general timeline of the Mesozoic Period, no book currently dissects plant and animal life during one specific period. This allows the book to explore wildlife seldom featured in publications, many of them recent discoveries. The Early Cretaceous is backed by the research of one of paleontology's most acclaimed theorists, giving the book the most up to date scientific interpretation regarding animal behaviors, interactions, and recreations. "The illustrations and artistic layout are exceptionally beautiful. This is a book children will cherish, keep, and remember, and adults will be delighted to add to their collection." - Sylvia Czerkas, Author and Director The Dinosaur Museum, Utah "The illustrations are fantastic! The Nigersaurus 'grazing' is one of the nicest reconstructions of a rebbachisaurid I've ever seen." - Matthew C. Lamanna, Ph.D., Assistant Curator, Section of Vertebrate Paleontology, Carnegie Museum of Natural History "Fantastic artwork!" - Andrew Milner, Paleontologist and Curator at St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site "The art is amazing" - Phil Hore, National Dinosaur Museum, Australia "I *love* it! The style reminds me of a very cool sci-fi book that I had as a kid (and still have), Dougal Dixon's After Man: A Zoology of the Future. Dixon's book is a wonderful, lavishly illustrated introduction to evolutionary principles that helped set me on the path to becoming a professional paleontologist. I suspect your book is going to be similarly inspirational to many of today's aspiring scientists." - Matthew C. Lamanna, Ph.D., Assistant Curator, Section of Vertebrate Paleontology, Carnegie Museum of Natural History
