Synopsis Radiology for Surgeons in Clinical Practice by : Evis Sala
This highly practical text is aimed at surgeons – both consultants and those in training who are interested in the advancing role played by imaging technology within surgical decision making. The first part of the book describes the principles of imaging, and the different imaging techniques available to the surgeon. The second part is symptom-based rather than organ-based, with the aim of providing a practical hands-on approach to imaging patients with common surgical complaints. Helpful bullet-points will assist the surgeon to better understand the imaging options available to them, and choose the correct modalities using a problem-based approach.

Synopsis Essential Radiology for Sports Medicine by : Philip Robinson
Imaging plays an increasingly vital role in the management of athletes aiding diagnosis, injury grading and prognosis, as well as guiding therapy. These processes apply equally to elite and recreational athletes young and old. I have always found that understanding the relevance of imaging fndings is easier when accompanied by knowledge of the anatomy, biomechanics and pathological processes involved in injury formation. This textbook has been developed with both radiologists and sports cli- cians in mind and aims to bring all these processes together and illustrate the spectrum of injury and associated clinical features for specifc anatomical areas. Internationally recognized musculoskeletal experts have contributed chapters which provide an imaging and clinical overview of the most relevant joint, bone and soft tissue athletic injuries. There is guidance for the reader on why specifc injuries occur, how to identify the optimal imaging evaluation and how to interpret the subsequent imaging fndings. Acute and overuse injuries are discussed as well as the premature degenerative processes that occur in athletes. State-of-the-art imaging techniques and fndings are presented including the use of muscu- skeletal ultrasound, conventional MR imaging and MR arthrography. Therapeutic ima- guided intervention using fuoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound is also discussed. This balance of techniques should allow a clinician whose practice focuses on one particular modality to become aware not only of that technique’s abilities but other modalities and their capabilities and limitations. Synopsis Emergency Cross-sectional Radiology by : Daniel Y. F. Chung
Cross-sectional imaging plays an ever-increasing role in the management of the acutely ill patient. There is 24/7 demand for radiologists at all levels of training to interpret complex scans, and alongside this an increased expectation that the requesting physician should be able to recognise important cross-sectional anatomy and pathology in order to expedite patient management. Emergency Cross-sectional Radiology addresses both these expectations. Part I demystifies cross-sectional imaging techniques. Part II describes a wide range of emergency conditions in an easy-to-read bullet point format. High quality images reinforce the findings, making this an invaluable rapid reference in everyday clinical practice. Emergency Cross-sectional Radiology is a practical aide-memoire for emergency medicine physicians, surgeons, acute care physicians and radiologists in everyday reporting or emergency on-call environments.

Synopsis The Rules of Radiology by : Paul McCoubrie
This book gets to the heart of what radiology is and what radiologists do. As a relatively young speciality, there is no guide for radiologists to act as a moral compass. Until now, that is. You will not find any dry technical matters in here. You will not find any clues about how to interpret images better. This book details the ‘other 50%’: the rest of the working week when a radiologist is not reading scans or performing procedures. The essence of radiology is distilled and offered up to the reader. If you want a comfortable read that offers bland reassurances, look elsewhere. If you want a book that questions everything and discusses uncomfortable truths, this is the book for you. Each of the Rules addresses an important part of professional practice. This book is a manifesto for all radiologists across the globe to raise their game, to be more effective and to serve their patients better.

Synopsis The Radiology Survival Kit by : Hayet Amalou
This textbook provides a basic introduction to radiology and imaging along with the minimum required knowledge written from a practical clinical perspective. Presenting essential definitions and critical images, this textbook offers key references in a welcomed concise format, targeting medical students and interns undertaking the USMLE and house staff of any specialty desiring a resource for practical and useful information relevant to and including medical imaging of common diseases and conditions. Organized by signs, symptoms, history, disease, imaging and imaging findings, and clinical service/specialty, this textbook thoughtfully addresses the early challenges faced by medical students and interns preparing for their beginning rotation or internship. Allowing readers to bypass dense radiology books too cluttered with detail, organized by body part instead of clinical relevance, or not inclusive of the latest developments and technologies, this textbook prepares students and house staff to enter and to succeed in this most rapidly evolving field in medicine. The Radiology Survival Kit: What You Need to Know for USMLE and the Clinics is a practical, clinically-oriented textbook offering an early career perspective intended for first through fourth year medical students and house staff, including interns and residents from any discipline, as well as radiology and radiography students and technologists, radiology and ICU nurses, nursing students, radiology administrators, and foreign medical graduates.

Synopsis Radiobiology for the Radiologist by : Eric J. Hall
In print since 1972, this seventh edition of Radiobiology for the Radiologist is the most extensively revised to date. It consists of two sections, one for those studying or practicing diagnostic radiolo, nuclear medicine and radiation oncology; the other for those engaged in the study or clinical practice of radiation oncology--a new chapter, on radiologic terrorism, is specifically for those in the radiation sciences who would manage exposed individuals in the event of a terrorist event. The 17 chapters in Section I represent a general introduction to radiation biology and a complete, self-contained course especially for residents in diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine that follows the Syllabus in Radiation Biology of the RSNA. The 11 chapters in Section II address more in-depth topics in radiation oncology, such as cancer biology, retreatment after radiotherapy, chemotherapeutic agents and hyperthermia. Now in full color, this lavishly illustrated new edition is replete with tables and figures that underscore essential concepts. Each chapter concludes with a "summary of pertinent conclusions" to facilitate quick review and help readers retain important information.

Synopsis Musculoskeletal Imaging by : Philip G. Conaghan
Diseases of the joints and surrounding tissues cannot be visualised without the help of imaging techniques. These range from x-rays (which have been available for over 100 years) to the highly sophisticated magnetic resonance imaging scanning. The variety of imaging techniques and indeed the quality of these images has improved radically in the past decade and this book attempts to capture the way in which rheumatologists and their colleagues can use a wide variety of techniques to analyse musculoskeletal diseases which are known to exist. This handbook provides the reader with an insight into both which imaging techniques should be applied to particular clinical problems and how the results can be used to determine the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal conditions. It is extensively illustrated with examples of the various imaging techniques and joints to aid understanding, and is organised by anatomical region and specific musculoskeletal disorder to allow easy access to information.
