Synopsis Pyramid of Skulls by : Martin Fruchtman
This is a historical novel of the Turkic conqueror Timur-i Lang (Tamerlane in the West). Countless novels concerning famous conquerors have been written (Alexander, Julius Caesar, Attila, and Genghis Khan) while Timur has been largely ignored. Based on historical accounts, this novel seeks to cover Timur's conquest of West, South, and Central Asia. While focusing on events from the distant past, the story still finds alarming echoes in current events. Until very recently, what contemporaries consider gratuitous violence was unfortunately a tactic of war, and the way of life. A consequential historical reality was that the fate of Asia was in much trouble as Timur solved numerous problems by decapitating his opponents and, per an eyewitness, erected giant pyramids of skulls. It was an effective technique to intimidate and deal with his adversaries. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "It's one thing to read in the abstract about Islam's doctrines of warfare against and subjugation of infidels and its systematic and institutionalized oppression of women -- but it's much more powerful, riveting and memorable to see these things actually happening, unfolding in people's lives. Martin Fruchtman's vivid and gripping historical novel Pyramid of Skulls offers just that kind of glimpse into these ghastly realities as they unfold in the lives of the Muslim conqueror Timur-i-Lang (Tamerlane) and those around him. Meticulously accurate and marvelously evocative, this novel brings to life what it really means for a society to encounter Islam in its fullness -- a message that 9/11 showed is just as relevant, if not more so, than it was in the days of Timur. Martin Fruchtman is to be commended for his keen eye for detail, his dramatic flair, and his clear commitment to the humane values that Timur and his ilk so callously cast aside." - Pamela Geller, author, "Stop Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance" (WND Books) and "The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration's War On America" (Simon and Schuster). Editor, Publisher Atlas Shrugs, Executive Director AFDI/SIOA It's imaginative and fast paced - Daniel Pipes, (PhD. from Harvard University). Pipes is President of the Middle East Forum, and author of more than 10 books on the Middle East. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ About the Author Martin Fruchtman was born in Los Angeles. Synopsis Skulls and Keys by : David Alan Richards
The mysterious, highly influential hidden world of Yale’s secret societies is revealed in a definitive and scholarly history. Secret societies have fundamentally shaped America’s cultural and political landscapes. In ways that are expected but never explicit, the bonds made through the most elite of secret societies have won members Pulitzer Prizes, governorships, and even presidencies. At the apex of these institutions stands Yale University and its rumored twenty-six secret societies. Tracing a history that has intrigued and enthralled for centuries, alluring the attention of such luminaries as Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner and F. Scott Fitzgerald, Skulls and Keys traces the history of Yale’s societies as they set the foundation for America’s future secret clubs and helped define the modern age of politics. But there is a progressive side to Yale’s secret societies that we rarely hear about, one that, in the cultural tumult of the nineteen-sixties, resulted in the election of people of color, women, and gay men, even in proportions beyond their percentages in the class. It’s a side that is often overlooked in favor of sensational legends of blood oaths and toe-curling conspiracies. Dave Richards, an alum of Yale, sheds some light on the lesser known stories of Yale’s secret societies. He takes us through the history from Phi Beta Kappa in the American Revolution (originally a social and drinking society) through Skull and Bones and its rivals in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. While there have been articles and books on some of those societies, there has never been a scholarly history of the system as a whole.

Synopsis A Heritage of Stars by : Clifford D. Simak
A man hunts for lost knowledge in a future society that’s reverted to a primitive tribal state in this novel by the author of Way Station. More than a thousand years have passed since humankind intentionally destroyed its treacherous technology, choosing to revert back to a primitive tribal state. In this society the rusting brain cases of long-inert robots are considered trophies, and the scant knowledge that has survived is doled out to an inquisitive few in monastery-like “universities.” It is at one such center of learning that young Tom Cushing first reads of the legendary “Place of Going to the Stars,” rumored to exist on a high butte somewhere in the western part of the land. Driven by enthusiasm and an insatiable need to track the myth to its source, Tom sets out on an amazing trek across what was once called “America,” teaming up with a witch, the world’s last remaining robot, and other odd companions. But all the astonishing discoveries and dangers they encounter along the way will pale before the revelations that await them at journey’s end. Clifford D. Simak, award-winning science fiction Grand Master, offers a breathtaking vision of the future that is both dystopian and hopeful in equal measure. In A Heritage of Stars, he boldly displays the heart, intelligence, and awesome imaginative powers that have established him as one of the all-time greatest authors of speculative fiction.
