Synopsis Psalms for Bikers by : Marty Edwards

Psalms for Bikers is a taste of what God has to say in the first fifty Psalms of the Old Testament. As riders, our perspective on the road is different from those on four wheels. We see, hear and smell what others never will. A majestic mountain looks far different astride a bike than it does from the security of a mini-van and the presence of the divine is always with us. Psalms for Bikers will encourage, inspire and challenge you to become a better person, a better biker and a child of God. This book is designed to travel with you, tucked away in your saddlebags, easily accessible at your next rest stop.

Synopsis The Saddlebag Gospels by : Debbie Edwards

Bikers are spiritual people. They may or may not go to church and few will align themselves with any particular religion or denomination. They are nonetheless, deeply spiritual. It comes naturally after riding through some of the most beautiful countryside in the world! Creation cries out to our five senses, daring us to deny the existence of a higher power. Many still do not recognize that there is a personable God who wants to know us intimately. Jesus Christ spoke to the common man and is relevant to the road warriors of today. In the New Testament, Jesus uses simple stories and parables to communicate His message. The Saddlebag Gospels capture these stories, partnering them with tales from the highway, to illustrate the Gospel or Good News. So, tuck this book into your saddlebags and enjoy a story or two as you have a cup of coffee. Gain a clearer understanding of a God who truly loves you and then ponder the truth of the words you have read as you head out onto the highway.

Synopsis Psalms For The End Of The World by : Cole Haddon

'Ingenious and compelling' THE TIMES, SCIENCE FICTION BOOKS OF THE MONTH 'Mind-bendingly clever and utterly gripping' DAILY MAIL, SCI-FI BOOKS OF THE MONTH 'A fascinating and assured debut' THE GUARDIAN, BEST RECENT SCIENCE FICTION It's 1962 and physics student Grace Pulansky believes she has met the man of her dreams, Robert Jones, while serving up slices of pecan pie at the local diner. But then the FBI shows up, with their fedoras and off-the-rack business suits, and accuses him of being a bomb-planting mass-murderer. Finding herself on the run with Jones across America's Southwest, the discoveries awaiting Gracie will undermine everything she knows about the universe. Her story will reveal how scores of lives - an identity-swapping rock star, a mourning lover in ancient China, Nazi hunters in pursuit of a terrible secret, a crazed artist in pre-revolutionary France, an astronaut struggling with a turbulent interplanetary future, and many more - are interconnected across space and time by love, grief, and quantum entanglement. Spanning continents, centuries, and dimensions, this is the perfect immersive read for fans of Justin Cronin, Emily St. John Mandel, Neil Gaiman and Blake Crouch. 'A book designed to be more than the sum of its parts, and one that achieves that because love is the thing that binds it together. Vitally fresh' DOMINIC NOLAN 'With strong echoes of David Mitchell, Haruki Murakami or Emily St John Mandel...this is a madcap ride to somewhere new with thrills to spare and a gallery of truly fascinating characters. One for the ages.' CRIME TIME 'A trans-dimensional, kaleidoscopic mystery-box of a novel.... wholly and riotously original. Haddon is a mad scientist of genre and his epic is a tour de force.' Synopsis Elijah by : Susan Michelle Van Hook

Life is full of drama. How can we know the Lord is speaking to us? How can we hear God when our lives are so busy? 1 Kings 17–2 Kings 2 is the story of the prophet Elijah and his example of using basic spiritual disciplines to hear God’s voice. Elijah’s circumstances were not so different than ours. His story is full of highs and lows. He was consumed by fear for his life, depression, fatigue, and too many demands. But when Elijah listened for God’s gentle whispers he was confident, he had God’s power to perform miracles, he had a fiery attitude to take on anything or anybody, he had supernatural strength and energy, he led others’ to recognize Truth, and he had acute hearing of God’s voice. This story begins and ends with the same amazing scene for Elijah ... and for us. It is a miracle more powerful and life changing than fire from heaven or a limitless supply of oil in a jar. It is the miracle of knowing God. Everything that God offered Elijah, He offers to us: His power, His Word, and His Presence. Through the use of basic, daily spiritual disciplines we can prepare our hearts, as Elijah did, to hear the voice of God. Will we allow God to interrupt the harried pace of our days to speak to us? If we are still, we will hear His gentle whisper. Listen closely. He is calling.

Synopsis Until I Find You by : John Irving

Until I Find You is the story of the actor Jack Burns – his life, loves, celebrity and astonishing search for the truth about his parents. When he is four years old, Jack travels with his mother Alice, a tattoo artist, to several North Sea ports in search of his father, William Burns. From Copenhagen to Amsterdam, William, a brilliant church organist and profligate womanizer, is always a step ahead – has always just departed in a wave of scandal, with a new tattoo somewhere on his body from a local master or “scratcher.” Alice and Jack abandon their quest, and Jack is educated at schools in Canada and New England – including, tellingly, a girls’ school in Toronto. His real education consists of his relationships with older women – from Emma Oastler, who initiates him into erotic life, to the girls of St. Hilda’s, with whom he first appears on stage, to the abusive Mrs. Machado, whom he first meets when sent to learn wrestling at a local gym. Too much happens in this expansive, eventful novel to possibly summarize it all. Emma and Jack move to Los Angeles, where Emma becomes a successful novelist and Jack a promising actor. A host of eccentric minor characters memorably come and go, including Jack’s hilariously confused teacher the Wurtz; Michelle Maher, the girlfriend he will never forget; and a precocious child Jack finds in the back of an Audi in a restaurant parking lot. We learn about tattoo addiction and movie cross-dressing, “sleeping in the needles” and the cure for cauliflower ears. And John Irving renders his protagonist’s unusual rise through Hollywood with the same vivid detail and range of emotions he gives to the organ music Jack hears as a child in European churches. This is an absorbing and moving book about obsession and loss, truth and storytelling, the signs we carry on us and inside us, the traces we can’t get rid of. Jack has always lived in the shadow of his absent father. But as he grows older – and when his mother dies – he starts to doubt the portrait of his father’s character she painted for him when he was a child. This is the cue for a second journey around Europe in search of his father, from Edinburgh to Switzerland, towards a conclusion of great emotional force. A melancholy tale of deception, Until I Find You is also a swaggering comic novel, a giant tapestry of life’s hopes. It is a masterpiece to compare with John Irving’s great novels, and restates the author’s claim to be considered the most glorious, comic, moving novelist at work today.
