Synopsis Heartbeats of the Holy by : Keith E. Knauss
Before God works THROUGH a man, He works IN a man, because the work that we do is the outgrowth of the life that we live. Little wonder that Alexander Whyte told a group of theological students, "A congregation is awaiting you, to be made by you, after you are made by God." Whatever "call" a man may pretend to have, if he has not been called to holiness, he certainly has not been called to the ministry. The pastor's priority is to live obediently before the Lord. Dr. Clarence Macartney wrote it well: "The better the man, the better the preacher. When he kneels by the bed of the dying or when he mounts the pulpit stairs, then every self-denial he has made, every Christian forbearance he has shown, every resistance to sin and temptation, will come back to him to strengthen his arm and give conviction to his voice. Likewise every evasion of duty, every indulgence of self, every compromise with evil, every unworthy thought, word, or deed, will be there at the head of the pulpit stairs to meet the minister on Sunday morning, to take the light from his eye, the power from his blow, the ring from his voice, and the joy from his heart." Keith Knauss provides the insight and means of becoming the kind of man that the Lord wants us all to be--HOLY. May the gracious Holy Spirit be pleased to take this presentation of thought gathered from holy men of God and capture their heartbeat for us. May He see fit to stir the fires within our hearts and renew our determination to magnify our office, to give ourselves up to God's work, to labor in season and out, to do good, and give no offense that both the ministry and ourselves be lifted up above all faultfinding of fair-minded men.

Synopsis Galen's Prophecy by : Jerome Kagan
Nearly two thousand years ago a physician named Galen of Pergamon suggested that much of the variation in human behavior could be explained by an individual's temperament. Since that time, inborn dispositions have fallen in and out of favor. Based on fifteen years of research, Galen's Prophecy now provides fresh insights into these complex questions, offering startling new evidence to support Galen's ancient classification of melancholic and sanguine adults. Integrating evidence and ideas from biology, philosophy, and psychology, Jerome Kagan examines the implications of the idea of temperament for aggressive behavior, conscience, psychopathology, and the degree to which each of us can be expected to control our deepest emotions.

Synopsis Physiology, Promiscuity And Prophecy At The Millennium: A Tale Of Tails by : Bruce J West
This book concerns the development of a theory of complex phenomena; using such concepts as fractals; chaos; and fractional derivatives; but; most important; the idea of an allometric control process is developed. In summary the theory attempts to explain why the distribution in the intensity of wars is the same as the relative frequency of the number of words used in languages and the number of species evolved over time from one or a few remote ancestors. The theory also describes the similarity in the variability of the number of births to teens in Texas to the number of sexual partners in homosexual liaisons. The data in both of the aforementioned categories are shown to have long-term memory; and it is this memory that also gives rise to inverse power laws in such physiological phenomena as the interbeat interval distribution of the human heart; the interstride interval distribution in the human gait; and memory in DNA sequences.

Synopsis Helldorado by : Peter Brandvold
In this thrilling western from Peter Brandvold, bounty hunter Lou Prophet thinks he's found paradise—he couldn't be more wrong. In all his years of bounty hunting, not one injury could rival the pain Lou Prophet felt when he thought he’d lost his old partner Louisa Bonaventure. Now that he’s rescued her from the brink of death in Mexico, they’re seeking a fresh start in Juniper, Wyoming, which had once been called Helldorado before Lou’s friend, “Hell-Bringin’” Hiram Severin, cleaned it up. Or thought he had… The two bounty hunters take on jobs as gold guards for a local bank—and Louisa takes up with a rich banker. Lou doesn’t have time for jealousy because some people have decided to welcome them to Helldorado with some hot lead. Now Prophet needs to find this filth that’s been swept under the carpet, or he and Louisa will be settling down in Helldorado for good—six feet under…
