This book contains the proceedings of the «Symposium on differential geometry» which took place at the Université de Valenciennes et du Hainaut Cambrésis from July 3, 2007 until July 7, 2007.The main theme of the conference was the differential geometry of submanifolds. Special emphasis was put on the following topics:Lagrangian immersions, Minimal immersions and constant mean curvature immersions, Harmonic maps and harmonic morphisms, Variational problems, Affine differential geometry. This conference follows the tradition of the conferences in the series of « Geometry and Topology of Submanifolds », which started with the Luminy meeting in 1987 and then continued with various meetings at different places in Europe, such as amongst others Avignon, Leeds, Leuven, Brussels, Nordfjordeid, Berlin, Warszawa, Bedlewo and also in China (Beijing, 1998).

Althoughsubmanifoldscomplexmanifoldshasbeenanactive?eldofstudyfor many years, in some sense this area is not su?ciently covered in the current literature. This text deals with the CR submanifolds of complex manifolds, with particular emphasis on CR submanifolds of complex projective space, and it covers the topics which are necessary for learning the basic properties of these manifolds. We are aware that it is impossible to give a complete overview of these submanifolds, but we hope that these notes can serve as an introduction to their study. We present the fundamental de?nitions and results necessary for reaching the frontiers of research in this ?eld. There are many monographs dealing with some current interesting topics in di?erential geometry, but most of these are written as encyclopedias, or research monographs, gathering recent results and giving the readers ample usefulinformationaboutthetopics. Therefore, thesekindsofmonographsare attractive to specialists in di?erential geometry and related ?elds and acce- able to professional di?erential geometers. However, for graduate students who are less advanced in di?erential geometry, these texts might be hard to read without assistance from their instructors. By contrast, the general philosophy of this book is to begin with the elementary facts about complex manifolds and their submanifolds, give some details and proofs, and introduce the reader to the study of CR submanifolds of complex manifolds; especially complex projective space. It includes only a few original results with precise proofs, while the others are cited in the reference list.

Differential Geometry and Its Visualization is suitable for graduate level courses in differential geometry, serving both students and teachers. It can also be used as a supplementary reference for research in mathematics and the natural and engineering sciences. Differential geometry is the study of geometric objects and their properties using the methods of mathematical analysis. This volume brings together recent, original research and survey articles by leading experts in several fields that include singularity theory, algebraic geometry and commutative algebra. The motivation for this collection comes from the wide-ranging research of the distinguished mathematician, Antonio Campillo, in these and related fields. Besides his influence in the mathematical community stemming from his research, Campillo has also endeavored to promote mathematics and mathematicians' networking everywhere, especially in Spain, Latin America and Europe. Because of his impressive achievements throughout his career, we dedicate this book to Campillo in honor of his 65th birthday. Edited in collaboration with the Grassmann Research Group, this book contains many important articles delivered at the ICM 2014 Satellite Conference and the 18th International Workshop on Real and Complex Submanifolds, which was held at the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Daejeon, Republic of Korea, August 10–12, 2014. The book covers various aspects of differential geometry focused on submanifolds, symmetric spaces, Riemannian and Lorentzian manifolds, and Kähler and Grassmann manifolds.

This volume is based on the lecture notes of six courses delivered at a CIMPA Summer School in Temuco, Chile, in January 2001. The courses are: asymptotic of the heat kernel in unbounded domains; spin systems with long range interactions; non-linear Dirichlet problem and non-linear integration; first-passage percolation; central limit theorem for Markov processes; stochastic orders and stopping times in Brownian motion. The level of each course is that of a graduate course, but the material will also be of interest for the specialist.
