The 1997 International Europhysics Conference on High Energy Physics was held at the campus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at the Jerusalem Renaissance Hotel, from August 19th to August 25th, 1997. This was the first time that the European Physical Society had its High Energy Physics Conference outside the boundary of Europe. A total of 550 physicists participated in the conference with a total of 250 presentations in the parallel sessions and 26 presentations in the plenary sessions. The Board of the of the High Energy and Particle Physics division (HEPP) of the EPS acted as the Scientific Organizing Committee. The Board acknowl edges the help of the International Advisory Committee as well as that of the Local Organizing Committee. The conference was co-organized by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and by the Weizmann Institute of Science, with important help by physi cists from the Israeli Institute of Technology (Technion) and the Tel Aviv University.

EPS - High Energy Physics '89 presents the proceeding of the International Europhysics Conference on High Energy physics, held in Madrid, Spain, on September 6–13, 1989. This book outlines several topics on the interface between cosmology/astrophysics and particle physics. Organized into two parts encompassing 181 chapters, this compilation of papers begins with an overview of the implications of the cosmic light element abundances. This text then examines the various aspects of lattice field theory. Other chapters consider the theoretical evidence of a fundamental length in string theory and outline the main features of the higher order corrections to the heavy quark inclusive cross section. This book discusses as well the theory of heavy quark production in hadron collision. The final chapter deals with the idea of low-energy supersymmetry, which relates the scale of supersymmetry breaking to the origin and stability of the electroweak scale. This book is a valuable resource for astrophysicists, physicists, and scientists.

High Energy Physics 99 contains the 18 invited plenary presentations and 250 contributions to parallel sessions presented at the International Europhysics Conference on High Energy Physics. The book provides a comprehensive survey of the latest developments in high energy physics. Topics discussed include hard high energy, structure functions, soft interactions, heavy flavor, the standard model, hadron spectroscopy, neutrino masses, particle astrophysics, field theory, and detector development.

The third Advanced Study Institute (ASI) on Techniques and Concepts of High Energy Physics was held at the Hotel on the Cay, in the scenic harbor of Christiansted, St. Croix, U. S. Virgin Islands. Christiansted was the site of the first ASI, and it was certainly a delight to return there again. As in the previous ASI's, the aim was to bring together a small group of promising young experimenters and several outstanding senior scholars in experimental and theoretical high energy physics in order to learn about the latest developments in the field and to strengthen contacts among scientists from different countries and different backgrounds. The institute was both a great scientific and a great social success; much of this was due to the beautiful setting and to the dedication of the Hotel management of Ray Boudreau and Hurchell Greenaway and their excellent staff. The primary support for the meeting was once again provided by the Scientific Affairs Division of NATO. The ASI was cosponsored by the U. S. Department of Energy, by Fermilab, by the National Science Found ation, and by the University of Rochester. A special contribution from the Oliver S. and Jennie R. Donaldson Charitable Trust provided an important degree of flexibility, as well as support for worthy students from developing nations. As in the case of the previous ASI's, the scientific program was designed for advanced graduate students and recent PhD recipients in experimental particle physics.

With the termination of the physics program at PETRA, and with the start of TRISTAN and the SLC and later LEP, an era of e+e- physics has come to an end and a new one begins. The field is changing from a field of few specialists, to becoming one of the mainstream efforts of the high energy community. It seems appropriate at this moment to summarize what has been learned over the past years, in a way most useful to any high energy physicists, in particular to newcomers in the e+e- field. This is the purpose of the book. This book should be used as a reference for future workers in the field of e+e- interactions. It includes the most relevant data, parametrizations, theoretical background, and a chapter on detectors.
