Why, in the late nineteenth century, did Jewish women suddenly march en masse into the pages of radical history? A Price Below Rubies explores this question and introduces us to these women--particularly, Anna Kuliscioff, Rosa Luxemburg, Esther Frumkin, Manya Shochat, Bertha Pappenheim, Rose Pesotta, and Emma Goldman. Naomi Shepherd's collective biography of these seven women and others tells the story of a revolution that began at home, in communities whose limits stirred women to rebel.

I asked myself in prayerful thought, what do women need? This is the simple answer I received.Freedom to be feminine. Someone they can trust.True empowerment. The kind based on the strength that God gives and not false empowerment based on power struggles created by a fallen world. So, what if you were free to be feminine? What if you had Someone you could trust? What if you could be truly empowered? God's Word is alive and answering. I found the answers to these questions throughout Scripture and this book is my way of sharing the place where they have been answered most clearly for me - Proverbs 31. In a world that glorifies feminism, anything less aggressive is seen as completely weak. There is nothing weak about being a biblical woman. Actually, there is nothing stronger...

In today's culture, biblical womanhood is a lost art. Women are in a daily battle to embrace their biblical roles within their homes. Sadly, society looks down on the biblical woman, viewing her as weak and subservient, but as Christian women, we know the truth. The biblical woman is strong, supportive, and faithful. Jesus came to redeem and restore this generation of women to live with victory and purpose. Far Above Rubies is one program, with three distinct parts; the Book, 12-filmed Workshops, and a Workshop Guide, built by author and speaker Brenda Leavenworth to aid women in reclaiming their God-given mandate. Each week, of this 13-week program, contains a two-part lesson aimed at establishing a solid biblical foundation. A corresponding video component is available, providing 12 practical workshops, one for each week, for managing the home. Woven into the pages are Brenda's eclectic life experiences as a ministry wife and the mother of a former child actor in Hollywood. Far Above Rubies is the perfect study for those who wish to reclaim biblical womanhood and bring glory to His name.

"You will be captured by Far Above Rubies. I couldn't put it down." - Dave Gresham, The Navigators Ministry Her husband-a friend to Mark Twain, mentor to Lewis Carroll, and the man C.S. Lewis called his "master"-was one of the greatest Christian writers of the Victorian era. She was his hidden gem, the bulwark and bastion on which he could lean. Though she was an accomplished musician and singer, an advocate for the poor and neglected, and a published author, she didn't need the spotlight, but was content to be her husband's biggest fan and companion. She bore eleven children and adopted and cared for several others. Enduring hardships few of us will ever experience, this petite woman faced them with courage and strength. Her name was Louisa MacDonald.

First Published in 2011. During the 1970s, land managers in the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) often must have felt they lived in interesting times. The decade began with the first Earth Day, an event that revealed the increasing strength and militancy of the environmental movement; as it ended, western commercial users of the public lands, disaffected by environmentalist policymaking victories, had launched the "sagebrush rebellion." Those managers were expected to reconcile often sharply polarized interest group pressures with professional values, as well as with diverse federal statutes and regulations that reflected uneasy compromises among group and professional influences. Although the technical specifics of public lands management differ from those in other fields of natural resources management, the political tensions in public lands policymaking are similar to those in other natural resources fields. Thus, this description of the Forest Service's xiii xiv PREFACE and BLM's handling of those tensions should be of interest to many in the natural resources management community as a whole. This study should also be useful to students of public administrative politics generally.
