The South Asia Regional Energy Study was completed as an important component of the technical assistance project Preparing the Energy Sector Dialogue and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Energy Center Capacity Development. It involved examining regional energy trade opportunities among all the member states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation. The study provides interventions to improve regional energy cooperation in different timescales, including specific infrastructure projects which can be implemented during these periods.

Electricity shortages in South Asia are adversely impacting the region's socioeconomic development. Energy trade is seen as a solution to this challenge. The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Framework Agreement for Energy Cooperation (Electricity) is a key step in realizing regional trade in energy. To support implementation of the framework agreement, ADB and SAARC in Law are working to improve legal and regulatory harmonization in the energy sector. This report identifies the legal, regulatory, technical, and commercial requirements for energy trade, and what each country in South Asia needs to do to make the framework agreement a reality. The recommendations, summarized in tables, provide an easy reference for policy makers and energy stakeholders in the region.

Infrastructure is essential for development. This report presents a snapshot of the current condition of developing Asia's infrastructure---defined here as transport, power, telecommunications, and water supply and sanitation. It examines how much the region has been investing in infrastructure and what will likely be needed through 2030. Finally, it analyzes the financial and institutional challenges that will shape future infrastructure investment and development.

This paper explores ways to unlock the potential for regional development and economic cooperation in the wider Central Asia region. It argues that understanding critical clusters of interrelated issues, and explicitly taking into account geopolitical and political economy considerations, are key in this regard. Regional countries and other stakeholders should focus on a few areas where there are real prospects for success in the short run; a combination of modest "win-win" initiatives and in some cases "bold strokes" that augment and change the distribution of benefits and hence make cooperation more likely to deliver progress.

The Regional Economic Integration: A comparative study of Central Asian and South Asian Regions. This book has been acknowledged as an exhaustive research on Economic Integration between Central Asia and South Asian as well as within the regions. This book has given an idea that both the regions are complementary to each other having a lot of potential in all growing sectors. To harness this potential efficiently both the regions should cooperate with each other. Economic benefits might help in diluting some political problems exiting within the regions. War devastating countries by Economic Integration could yield maximum benefits in the European Union then why not these regions could do so. History is witnessed that these regions enjoy same social and culturalties while engaging in trade activities. Author has made extensive efforts to highlight the benefits of economic integration for development and prosperity of both the regions.
