Synopsis Perpetual Search by : Mhango, Nkwazi Nkuzi
Perpetual Search is a nerve-numbing piece of poetry that challenges all humans. The odes here want everybody to ask themselves who they think they are. So, too, it explores human nature based on both sides of the coin of the exemplification of human comportment. It is the pursuit aimed at interrogating some human behaviours and practices that are sometimes taken for granted despite having indelible impacts on people's lives. It is about the quest for aptness, communitas, love, happiness, power, wealth, life without questioning how they are attained. It raises questions that seem to be simple but are in fact difficult. The quest for human desire based on the search for a better life and for perfection is at the heart of this collection.

Synopsis Filming the Line of Control by : Meenakshi Bharat
Filming the Line of Control charts out the history of the relationship between India and Pakistan as represented in cinema, especially in light of the improved political atmosphere between the two countries. It is geared towards arriving at a better understanding of one of the most crucial political and historical relationships in the continent, a relationship that has a key role to play in world-politics and in the shaping of world-history. Part of this exciting study is the documentation of popular responses to Indian films, from both within the two countries and among the Pakistani and Indian diaspora. The motive of this has been to locate and discuss aspects that link the two sensibilities — either in divergence or in their coming together. This book brings together scholars from across the globe, as also filmmakers and viewers on to a common platform to capture the dynamics of popular imagination. Reverberating with a unique inter-disciplinary alertness to cinematic, historical, cultural and sociological understanding, this study will interest readers throughout the world who have their eye on the burgeoning importance of the sub-continental players in the world-arena. It is a penetrating study of films that carries the thematic brunt of attempting to construct a history of Indo–Pakistan relations as reflected in cinema. This book directs our holistic attention to the unique confluence between history and film studies.

Synopsis Hardship and Deliverance in the Islamic Tradition by : Nouha Khalifa
Al-Tanuki was a judge who was born in Basra and lived in Baghdad during the tenth century CE. During his life, he wrote three books which compiled poetry, stories, anecdotes and hadith. In this introduction to al-Tanuki's works and thought, Nouha Khalifa identifies the central theme of hardship and deliverance within wider narratives about love, generosity and the journey. Al-Tanuki was principally concerned with how humankind can alleviate hardship and suffering in life and achieve deliverance. His unshakable conviction in the necessity of deliverance was rooted in his Mu'tazilite doctrine, an early school of Sunni Islamic theology which sought to ground Islamic tenets in reason, and which drew upon different aspects of early Islamic philosophy, Greek philosophy and Hellenistic philosophy. This is a fascinating commentary on medieval Middle Eastern culture, history, philosophy and religious thought.

Synopsis Fundamentals of an Integrated Model of Psychotherapy by : Héctor Fernández Alvarez
Therapists are increasingly using a variety of techniques in their clinical practice. From memory recovery to relaxation training, from cognitive restructuring to empathic reflection, today's interventions are based less on the theoretical preconceptions of the therapist and more on the problems and desires of the patient. With these changes as a backdrop, internationally renowned cognitive psychologist Hector Fernandez-Alvarez presents an integrated model of therapy. Theoretically sound and clinically rich, this volume offers a way of tailoring each clinical encounter to the needs of the particular patient, from the mildy distressed anxiety disordered the severely suffering borderline. This book is an invaluable guide to students and experienced therapists alike.
