This new, first-ever dual language dictionary contains more than 21,000 Pennsylvania German words and their English counterparts. Dr. Stine has prepared a descriptive and not a prescriptive dictionary, in which the Lehigh-Northampton County variant of Pennsylvania German is the dominant version of the dialect. The author has taken care, however, to include significant differences from other areas, such as the Lancaster-York County and Schuylkill-Dauphin County regions. This dictionary includes many of the most common words used by the Amish and native speakers of Pennsylvania German (also known as PA-Deitsh or Pennsylvania Dutch). The spelling is the same style used in "Di Heilich Shrift" the Pennsylvania German Bible and "Es Nei Teshtament" the Pennsylvania German New Testament, as well as the Pennsylvania German workbook "Ich Kann PA Deitsh Shreiva."
