Synopsis Optimal Pilot-aided Channel Estimation for MIMO DVB-T OFDM Systems by : Yuefeng Xu

The need for wireless data and multimedia services promotes the development and application of many high-speed wireless communication techniques. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) techniques and Multiple Input and Multiple Output (MIMO) techniques have gained more and more interest in the last a few years. But there are still many key problems to be solved in OFDM and MIMO, including synchronization, channel estimation, and adaptive modulation. Channel estimation is the research target in this paper. In this thesis, we introduce an optimal Pilot-Aided Channel Estimation (PACE) algorithm. It works in Non Line of Sight (NLOS) environments with low Bit Error Rate (BER) and its computation cost is relatively small.

Synopsis Using the Vandermonde Matrix as a Channel Estimation Technique for OFDM Systems and as an Optimization Technique for Massive MIMO Systems by : José Vidal Cuan Cortés

"Through the years, we have been witnesses to an unprecedented growth in the demand for a reliable high-speed wireless communication service; in order to support a wide range of applications like voice, video, Internet, etc. In this thesis, we propose a data aided channel estimation technique with two components for the estimation process. First, the use of the Vandermonde Matrix for the estimation of the channel at the pilot tone locations (this first step works for any of the pilot arrangement patterns). And second, the Frequency Domain Correlation for the interpolation process and the corresponding channel estimation between pilot tones".

Synopsis Analysis and Performance Evaluation of SISO and MIMO OFDM Channel Estimation Techniques Using Pilot Symbols by : Imtiyaz Ahmed Mohammed

Multiple Input Multiple Output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO- OFDM) provides a significant performance gain compared to the single antenna systems by using diversity and multiplexing techniques. The availability of channel state information at the receiver determines the multiplexing and diversity gain of the MIMO OFDM systems. In this thesis work, analysis and comparison of different pilot aided channel estimation algorithms have been performed. The Alamouti Space Frequency Block coding (SFBC) is used to achieve diversity, whereas Maximum Likelihood (ML) detector is used to decode the spatially coded symbols.
