Synopsis Optimal Pilot-aided Channel Estimation for MIMO DVB-T OFDM Systems by : Yuefeng Xu
The need for wireless data and multimedia services promotes the development and application of many high-speed wireless communication techniques. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) techniques and Multiple Input and Multiple Output (MIMO) techniques have gained more and more interest in the last a few years. But there are still many key problems to be solved in OFDM and MIMO, including synchronization, channel estimation, and adaptive modulation. Channel estimation is the research target in this paper. In this thesis, we introduce an optimal Pilot-Aided Channel Estimation (PACE) algorithm. It works in Non Line of Sight (NLOS) environments with low Bit Error Rate (BER) and its computation cost is relatively small.

Synopsis Using the Vandermonde Matrix as a Channel Estimation Technique for OFDM Systems and as an Optimization Technique for Massive MIMO Systems by : José Vidal Cuan Cortés
"Through the years, we have been witnesses to an unprecedented growth in the demand for a reliable high-speed wireless communication service; in order to support a wide range of applications like voice, video, Internet, etc. In this thesis, we propose a data aided channel estimation technique with two components for the estimation process. First, the use of the Vandermonde Matrix for the estimation of the channel at the pilot tone locations (this first step works for any of the pilot arrangement patterns). And second, the Frequency Domain Correlation for the interpolation process and the corresponding channel estimation between pilot tones".

Synopsis Analysis and Performance Evaluation of SISO and MIMO OFDM Channel Estimation Techniques Using Pilot Symbols by : Imtiyaz Ahmed Mohammed
Multiple Input Multiple Output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO- OFDM) provides a significant performance gain compared to the single antenna systems by using diversity and multiplexing techniques. The availability of channel state information at the receiver determines the multiplexing and diversity gain of the MIMO OFDM systems. In this thesis work, analysis and comparison of different pilot aided channel estimation algorithms have been performed. The Alamouti Space Frequency Block coding (SFBC) is used to achieve diversity, whereas Maximum Likelihood (ML) detector is used to decode the spatially coded symbols.

Synopsis Baseband Receiver Design for Wireless MIMO-OFDM Communications by : Tzi-Dar Chiueh
The Second Edition of OFDM Baseband Receiver Design for Wirless Communications, this book expands on the earlier edition with enhanced coverage of MIMO techniques, additional baseband algorithms, and more IC design examples. The authors cover the full range of OFDM technology, from theories and algorithms to architectures and circuits. The book gives a concise yet comprehensive look at digital communication fundamentals before explaining signal processing algorithms in receivers. The authors give detailed treatment of hardware issues - from architecture to IC implementation. Links OFDM and MIMO theory with hardware implementation Enables the reader to transfer communication received concepts into hardware; design wireless receivers with acceptable implemntation loss; achieve low-power designs Covers the latest standards, such as DVB-T2, WiMax, LTE and LTE-A Includes more baseband algorithms, like soft-decoding algorithms such as BCJR and SOVA Expanded treatment of channel models, detection algorithms and MIMO techniques Features concrete design examples of WiMAX systems and cognitive radio apllications Companion website with lecture slides for instructors Based on materials developed for a course in digital communication IC design, this book is ideal for graduate students and researchers in VLSI design, wireless communications, and communications signal processing. Practicing engineers working on algorithms or hardware for wireless communications devices will also find this to be a key reference.
