There are presented herein the long-range objectives and a short-term conservation program for the national forests and associated lands. The long-range objectives are related to the year 2000 and the short-term program to what needs to be done in the next 10 to 1 years toward meeting current needs and attaining long-range objectives.

From mid-June to mid-September 1962, 12 selected campgrounds were observed in the National Forests of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota. The purpose of the study was to establish patters of recreational use in order to guide future developoment and management.
