Synopsis On the Lower Frequencies by : Erick Lyle
On the Lower Frequencies is at once a manual, memoir, and history of creative resistance in a world awash with war and poverty. An icon on the 1990s zine scene, Iggy Scam traces not only the evolution of cities, but of his own thinking, from his early focus on more outré forms of resistance through more contemplative times as he becomes preoccupied with the need for a more affirmative vision of the future. In one of the book’s key pieces, Scam celebrates the history and passing of Hunt’s Donuts in San Francisco’s Mission District. On one level an epitaph for a beloved hangout and on another a metaphor for the effects of gentrification, it’s the untold history of an entire neighborhood in a single retail establishment. Whether handing out fake Starbucks coupons or dreaming of a future with more public art and punk holidays, Scam gives the reader inspiration for living defiantly.

Synopsis Low-Frequency Sound and Marine Mammals by : National Research Council
This volume reviews the current state of knowledge regarding the effects of low-frequency sound on marine mammals and makes recommendations for research. In addition, the book describes current federal regulations prescribed under the Marine Mammal Protection Act that govern the taking of marine mammals by scientific research activities, and it recommends changes to expedite the regulatory process dealing with scientific research activities.

Synopsis Numerical Values of the Path Integrals for Low and Very Low Frequencies by : Leslie A. Berry
Numerical values of the path integrals for the first five hops are given as a function of distance from 1000 km to 8000 km, for frequencies of 10, 20, 30, 60, 100, 150, and 200 kHz., for sea paths, and for land paths with conductivities of 0 * .01 and 0.001 mhos/m, assuming reflection heights of 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 km.For convenience, ground wave curves for the same parameters are given.Using these values, and any ionospheric reflection coefficients, the individual time modes, and the total field can be calculated simply. The calculation is valid near the caustic and in the shadow region. The path integrals can also be used to extract ionospheric reflection coefficients from experimental data. Synopsis Low Frequency Radio Astronomy and the LOFAR Observatory by : George Heald
This book presents lecture materials from the Third LOFAR Data School, transformed into a coherent and complete reference book describing the LOFAR design, along with descriptions of primary science cases, data processing techniques, and recipes for data handling. Together with hands-on exercises the chapters, based on the lecture notes, teach fundamentals and practical knowledge. LOFAR is a new and innovative radio telescope operating at low radio frequencies (10-250 MHz) and is the first of a new generation of radio interferometers that are leading the way to the ambitious Square Kilometre Array (SKA) to be built in the next decade. This unique reference guide serves as a primary information source for research groups around the world that seek to make the most of LOFAR data, as well as those who will push these topics forward to the next level with the design, construction, and realization of the SKA. This book will also be useful as supplementary reading material for any astrophysics overview or astrophysical techniques course, particularly those geared towards radio astronomy (and radio astronomy techniques).

Synopsis The Handbook of Infrared and Raman Characteristic Frequencies of Organic Molecules by : Daimay Lin-Vien
This necessary desk reference for every practicing spectroscopist represents the first definitive book written specifically to integrate knowledge about group frequencies in infrared as well as Raman spectra. In the spirit of previous classics developed by Bellamy and others, this volume has expanded its scope and updated its coverage. In addition to detailing characteristic group frequencies of compounds from a comprehensive assortment of categories, the book includes a collection of spectra and a literature search conducted to verify existing correlations and to determine ways to enhance correlations between vibrational frequencies and molecular structure. Particular attention has been given to the correlation between Raman characteristic frequencies and molecular structure. - Constitutes a necessary reference for every practicing vibrational spectroscopist - Provides the new definitive text on characteristic frequencies of organic molecules - Incorporates group frequencies for both infrared and Raman spectra - Details the characteristic IR and Raman frequencies of compounds in more than twenty major categories - Includes an extensive collection of spectra - Compiled by internationally recognized experts
