Synopsis On Signs, Christ, Truth and the Interpretation of Scripture by : Susannah Ticciati
Susannah Ticciati draws on Augustine to address the question of truth in the public sphere. In the face of the degeneration of public normative discourse, the book finds in Augustine the resources for the repair of a series of (post)modern oppositions, making way for a rehabilitation of public normativity. The book discovers in Augustine a truth that is at once inward and public. It is a truth which both scriptural author and interpreter, prompted by the words of Scripture, seek in common. It is a truth which Christ speaks on behalf of others, and which others in turn are liberated to speak in Christ. Through Augustine, Ticciati offers a scriptural hermeneutic that overcomes a false opposition between modern and postmodern modes of reading, and arrives at a Christologically informed vision of coinherence rather than inclusion, of substitutionary rather than tokenist representation, and of cosmic rather than colonial breadth.

Synopsis Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation by : Pope Paul VI.
This document's purpose is to spell out the Church's understanding of the nature of revelation--the process whereby God communicates with human beings. It touches upon questions about Scripture, tradition, and the teaching authority of the Church. The major concern of the document is to proclaim a Catholic understanding of the Bible as the "word of God." Key elements include: Trinitarian structure, roles of apostles and bishops, and biblical reading in a historical context.

Synopsis A Clear and Present Word by : Mark D. Thompson
A lack of confidence in the clarity or perspicuity of Scripture is apparent in Western Christianity. In this New Studies in Biblical Theology volume, Mark Thompson restates the doctrine of the clarity of Scripture. He surveys past and present objections, engages with contemporary hermeneutical challenges, and expounds the living God as the Guarantor of his accessible, written Word.

Synopsis Jesus: The Way, the Truth, and the Life by : Marcellino D’Ambrosio
“In this book, Marcellino D’Ambrosio has painted a rich picture that brings Jesus and his world to life. Clear, concise, and compelling, Jesus: The Way, the Truth, and the Life is a must-read for every Catholic.” – Edward Sri Jesus: The Way, the Truth, and the Life by Marcellino D’Ambrosio is an ebook that stands alone but also accompanies the 10-week video study program presented by Marcellino D’Ambrosio, Jeff Cavins, and Edward Sri. In this book, Catholics walk step by step with Jesus from his infancy to the Ascension. Anchored in the life of Christ as presented in the Gospels, it explores the entirety of Jesus’ life—who he is, what he is really like, what he taught, what he did for our salvation, and what this means for us as Catholics today. This study shows, in a simple way, how Jesus, the Incarnate God, is both fully divine and fully human—his intimacy with the Father, his revelation of the Father’s love, and his extraordinary influence on his disciples, his followers, and even his enemies. Most importantly, this encounter with Christ will inspire and empower you to center your entire life in him as you come to know and love him in an ever-deeper and more intimate way. In this book, Catholics will learn... Who Jesus is and how he answers the longings of the human heart. Why Jesus was baptized. The significance of the Transfiguration. The essentials of Christology explained in a way the average Catholic can understand. The mystery and meaning of the Resurrection, Christ’s triumph over death. The nature of Jesus’ mission and the redemption of humanity. Our role today as Catholics in the Great Commission. Paperback, 280 pages Nihil obstat: Rev. Robert A. Synopsis The Gospel & the Zodiac by : Bill Darlison
“Darlison elucidates the zodiac’s significant place in the Gospels, most specifically in the Book of Mark . . . An intriguing leap into faith” (Kirkus Reviews). For millennia the world has been driven by the differences between the great patriarchal religions. Western civilization—or Christendom, as it was once called—received its values and its confidence from a belief in God, the Father, and Jesus, his only son. But what if this conviction were founded on an error? Who is the man in the factually inconsistent Gospel stories? And who is the man who makes a brief appearance carrying a jar of water? This extraordinary study by a Unitarian minister suggests that Jesus never existed historically; he was simply a representation of an astrological theology—a representation, simply put, of the zodiac sign of Aquarius. In The Gospel & the Zodiac, Rev. Bill Darlison demonstrates that all the other signs are present too, in perfect zodiacal order. The Gospel story is not the product of historians or eyewitnesses, but an older, mystical text produced by an ancient, esoteric school as a guide to the Age of Pisces. Every bit as revelatory and controversial as it sounds, The Gospel & the Zodiac will shake up the religious status quo, and in doing so, provide both a new look at a religious icon and a deeper understanding of the faith that binds millions together. “Darlison begins by looking at different scholarly approaches to the gospels, then outlines his astrological interpretation logically and lucidly, matching the zodiacal signs to the narrative of Mark.” —Fortean Times
