The Indians feared Naitaka, the monster of Okanagan Lake which had to be appeased with animal sacrifices. Early white settlers also sighted the creature but often told no one, fearing ridicule. As the Okanagan Valley population grew, sightings of the monster, renamed Ogopogo, were reported more frequently. A number of observers have photographed what they believe to be Ogopogo. Many of these photos are included in this book, some being published for the first time. Monster hunters around the world are paying more attention to Ogopogo now that Lloyd's of London has offered a $1,000,000 for conclusive proof of Ogopogo's existence. A former GI vet from the Vietnam war, suffering from PTSD, has made his way to the peaceful Okanagan area of B.C. Here he chooses to target young Asian female victims who will serve his purpose as he assumes the persona of Ogopogo, a Canadian folk lore lake serpent who was said to inhabit Okanagan Lake. Ignatius (Iggy) Myles and Jacob (Jake) England, two Kelowna street-wise detectives are nearing retirement, but their plans are put on hold as the killer’s prey becomes personal and they are forced to pursue the monster through the mountainous wilds of British Columbia.

Ogopogo and Friends is a work of fiction and, therefore its characters and a situation they find themselves in are entirely my creation.

Omak Lake is an ancient body of water, about which the native Indian population holds significant cultural and religious views, which includes sightings of the Omak Lake Monster. The reported Omak Lake Monster had its true believers and debunkers. Since the sightings of the lake monster happen rarely, few native people cared to offer their views, leaving it to the true believers to spread the gospel about the marine lake monster. No one knows whether it is fish, marine mammal, reptile, amphibian or ancient marine dinosaur. Outside the native people, few people believe that a lake monster resides in Omak Lake. The true believers hold that Omak Lake is bottomless, though the lake has been surveyed and mapped many times. Doubters of the stories of the Omak Lake Monster bring up the legendary Ogopogo, the Okanagan Lake Monster, British Columbia, Canada. They state the local Indians are attributing stories about Ogopogo of Okanagan Lake to Omak Lake. The true believers of the Omak Lake Monster state they are not confused, and they maintain there is a lake monster in Omak Lake. Thought not discounting exploits of Ogopogo, they believe the Omak Lake Monster is real and menacing to anyone not giving it space.
