Alaska, now an infant in swaddling clothes will soon learn to walk. Her footsteps will be guided by the sons and daughters of the men and women who blazed the trails to the far camps, and as she grows she will take her rightful place among the other states of the union, and her people will have a voice in the councils of the Nation. The verses in this little volume are not literary gems such as the famous poets have written; they are simply a collection of typical Alaskan life and have been written with the sincere desire to portray Alaska and the people of Alaska as they really are. I am confident that those people who know Alaska will see the real in all the lines.
