Synopsis Nothing Permanent by : Melanie Jayne
It's supposed to be a mutually beneficial arrangement and nothing more. Jules gains a roommate who can renovate her old house and keep her loser brother away. Liam gets a place to crash after his release from prison. Neither are prepared for the instantaneous attraction that flares between them. The pair try their best to ignore it and keep things purely platonic. That seems the sensible thing to do with Liam trying to get his life back on track while Jules fends off relentless harassment by her addict brother. Yet when her brother's antics elevate to a dangerous level, Liam and Jules find the truth of what's developing between them impossible to ignore. Fate hasn't favored either of them. Could their "nothing permanent" arrangement finally lead to the happiness they both crave?

Synopsis Nothing Permanent by : Todd Cronan
A critical look at the competing motivations behind one of modern architecture’s most widely known and misunderstood movements Although “mid-century modern” has evolved into a highly popular and ubiquitous architectural style, this term obscures the varied perspectives and approaches of its original practitioners. In Nothing Permanent, Todd Cronan displaces generalizations with a nuanced intellectual history of architectural innovation in California between 1920 and 1970, uncovering the conflicting intentions that would go on to reshape the future of American domestic life. Focusing on four primary figures—R. M. Schindler, Richard Neutra, and Charles and Ray Eames—Nothing Permanent demonstrates how this prolific era of modern architecture in California, rather than constituting a homogenous movement, was propelled by disparate approaches and aims. Exemplified by the twin pillars of Schindler and Neutra and their respective ideological factions, these two groups of architects represent opposing poles of architectural intentionality, embodying divergent views about the dynamic between interior and exterior, the idea of permanence, and the extent to which architects could exercise control over the inhabitants of their structures. Looking past California modernism’s surface-level idealization in present-day style guides, home decor publications, films, and television shows, Nothing Permanent details the intellectual, aesthetic, and practical debates that lie at the roots of this complex architectural moment. Extracting this period from its diffusion into visual culture, Cronan argues that mid-century architecture in California raised questions about the meaning of architecture and design that remain urgent today.

Synopsis Management of Permanent Change by : Horst Albach
In the current times of more frequent crises and ever shortening innovation cycles, the management of change has become a crucial task of survival. While it is not a new topic in business research, the developments of the last decade have posed many new challenges for the change management of firms and organizations and have thus also raised many new questions for academic research in business administration, which the present book turns to deepen. Its particular focus is on disruptive change including its driving forces as well as effective and sustainable management. This publication constitutes a collection of articles that discuss change and innovation processes across different sectors of the economy (industry, banking, and retail), the role of leadership and corporate governance for the effectiveness and sustainability of organizational change.
