Synopsis Nosetalgia by : Michael Gitter
Nosetalgia is the first and only book of its kind in the world. And it literally stinks! It has 14 nostalgic scratch-and-sniff spots to take you back.In the hyper-protective, safety-conscious world we live in, we can consider it a badge of honor that as kids we breathed in the deliciously noxious smells of damp mimeograph paper, model airplane glue, Wite-Out, rubber cement, Magic Markers, and Superelastic Bubble Plastic and lived to tell about it. Very few things transport you in time like your sense of smell. It is the oldest, most primal sense and the one most tied to memory. And while we can identify over 10,000 individual smells, it is still the most underappreciated of all our senses. The authors of Nosetalgia: The Smells That Take You Back present a way to help release stored and oft-forgotten childhood memories. This unique book features 96 pages of vibrant, full-color photos of a wide variety of items from the '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s, from Lip Smackers to Odorama memorabilia. To complete the experience, there are 14 scratch-and-sniff scent spots, from menthol (recalling Vick's VapoRub) to coconut (Coppertone suntan lotion and the smell of piña coladas) and a variety of bubblegums, perfumes, and colognes to help trigger smell memories for the reader. It is a scratch-and-sniff book for grownups who want to relive the glory days of their childhoods. People the world over continue to ride the wave of nostalgia that has swept the entire globe. Nosetalgia will be a coffee-table must-have. It is something people will flip through again and again and will tell their friends about.

Synopsis Antiracism Inc by : Felice Blake
"Antiracism Inc. considers new ways of struggling toward racial justice in a world that constantly steals and misuses radical ideas and practices. The critical essays, interviews, and poetry collected here focus on people and methods that do not seek inclusion in the hierarchical order of gendered racial capitalism. Rather, they focus on aggrieved peoples who have always had to negotiate state violence and cultural erasure, but who also work to build the worlds they envision. These collectivities seek to transform social structures and establish a new social warrant guided by what W.E.B. Du Bois called 'abolition democracy, ' a way of being and thinking that privileges people, mutual interdependence, and ecological harmony over individualist self-aggrandizement and profits. Further, these aggrieved collectivities reshape social relations away from the violence and alienation inherent to gendered racial capitalism, and towards the well-being of the commons."--Provided by publisher

Synopsis Emotions, Senses and Affects in the Context of Southeast Europe by : Klaus Roth
This volume focuses on emotions of people in Southeast Europe. Grief and sadness take on different forms of expression. In the era of socialist rule laughter could express political resistance; for labour migrants visiting their country of origin evokes feelings of being at home. Cities attract visitors by appealing to emotions and people try to relive times of national glory by historical re-enactments. Gossip is a means of expressing emotions, smells and rituals become expressions of remembered emotions. Emotions are a factor researchers must always take seriously, both of the people studied and their own.

Synopsis The Rhyming Cutlets of Pirip by : Bill Reed
We cannot blame Charles Dickens for not meeting our national Arts treasure Philip P. Pirip, but: go blame yr rottern Fate; whos flushs beat yr faces straights It could be said, though, Dickens did lend his major characters to Philip P. Pirip, although ‘lend’ might not be the best word; rather freedom opened the door to its wide-open spaces to allow them to escape and give vent to their grievances with their famous author, seeing as to how he never once mentioned the fabulous Surnevv diamonds that they once had their hands on and now wanted back at whatever cost to literature. Fabulous royalties might have been Charles Dickens’s lot but the diamonds were the only avenue for riches beyond creative writing for Miss Haversham, Estella, Mister Jaggers, Compeyson, Orlick, Biddy and a whole cast of actors and naked ‘actrusses’ who now demanded their jewel dues and were willing to kill for them. That escape fell to them after ‘Great Expectations’ found its way onto one of the heaps in the rubbish tip that was beloved of Pirip and in fact the location of his Tiphome, a dump in itself. From that fact, it was only a short fictional distance for the Dickens’s characters to land on Pirip’s lap with a vengeance. They came to lap but I stukk out tongue, ‘take thapt’! How our hero struggles with them might not be in any universal history books but, in artistic circles, it set the standard for the license to cull.
