Nord grew up in Arkansas and had his first encounter with Gators at an Alligator Farm tourist attraction in Hot Springs, when he was five years old. It must have made an impression. He has been fascinated with Saurians ever since. Now living in Florida, he began this collection of Gators after an alligator in the lake behind his house ate one of his wife's pet ducks.
