Synopsis Nobody Cages Me by : Corey Washington

Jimi Hendrix is primarily looked at as a Rock musician, which is fine, but he is much more. From his seminal beginnings on the R&B chitlin circuit to his whirlwind international fame, Jimi Hendrix took from all sources musically. The consummate musician, Jimi was looking for any and every opportunity to jam with like-minded musicians, who did not want to be caged by musical categories. Almost by chance, Jimi was involved in two pioneering performances that launched two genres, that would dominate the African-American music scene for multiple decades (1970spresent). These genres are P-Funk and Hip-Hop! This is not a Jimi Hendrix biography, because that has already been done multiple times. Nobody Cages Me! is told from the perspective of a young African-American male, who had to discover Hendrix on his own. It took the popular wrestler Hulk Hogan to connect the author with Jimi Hendrix. The authors journey to Hendrix is a unique story in of itself. About the Author Corey Washington is an Educator/Author/Blogger/Journalist from Augusta, Georgia. He is also the author of Plain Talk volumes 1 and 2 (a two part series designed to promote cultural diversity and awareness). He holds both a bachelors and masters degree in Middle Grades Education from Augusta State University. Born in New York City during the twilight of Disco and the dawn of Hip-Hop(1976), the author did not discover Jimi Hendrix until 1997. Since then, he has studied and listened to every Hendrix recording and book that he could get his hands on. He hopes Nobody Cages Me! will get some people to see beyond the parameters of traditional "White" and "Black" music. Synopsis None Like Her by : Jela Krecic

To prove that he has moved on from his ex-girlfriend, Matias embarks on an odyssey of dates around the city of Ljubljana. The dates and women are wonderfully varied, the interactions perspicuously observed, the preoccupations of the characters—drawn from lively and ambitious dialogue—will speak directly to Generation Y. In Matias, Krecic has created a well-observed crypto-misogynist of the new millennium whose behavior she offers up for our scrutiny.

Synopsis Escape from the Golden Cage by : Arti Kotak Triklani

Why can’t a girl help her father financially? Why can’t a girl be the pillar of the family when tough time blows in? Why is a girl asked to give up on her dreams after her marriage? Why are daughters and daughter-in-laws always differentiated as far as their dreams , freedom and ambitions are concerned? Why can’t a woman support a woman for her progress? Who is responsible for a woman’s bondage and servility? The society or a woman herself? This book throws light on the social issues which take place within four walls of a house, especially in a woman’s life. These are not the apparent problems like terrorism, religious rebels, pollution issues, racisms, global warming, etc. These are the hidden issues which suppress and destroy the entire life of women silently, especially those women who have their own wings to fly. Since centuries, women have been getting dominated for some or other reasons. Still this tyranny has not lost its stability. Before she used to be dominated physically, in this century she faces the oligarchy mentally by not getting permission from the society to have her own space. Many a times, she is not allowed to have her own space even for good works. Sometimes she is prevented by the men or women and sometimes she herself accepts her slavery. Why women force women to accept that there is no life of a woman after marriage. This negative thought binds her to make her marriage life doomed. She is ready to gain the responsibility that is why she gets married happily with positive thoughts but along with the responsibilities of the entire family if she steals sometime for herself to do the work of her own interest, what is wrong in that? Aditi, the protagonist of the story cannot give the answers of all the above questions which are faced by various Indian women but she finds the solution of it and the solution is ‘Ignorance and Escape’. Her consistency of ignoring the social tyranny for women’s honour and independence takes her towards her career goals.

Synopsis Witness to My Last Judgement by : Marie-Emily Sendrea

Dee-Anna is an upper-class woman and a resident of a well-preserved suburb in Michigan where only the elite build their treasured nests. This classy lady, found herself in the throes of a terrifying adventure that pushed her to the brink of her sanity. “With every day that passed, it became a burden hard to endure, Dee-Anna confesses, and I complained of pains all over my body. “Anxiety,” my doctor explained. “Overstressed,” was a specialist’s opinion. I was the only one who knew the truth. I needed to unburden my mind and heart; I needed to shift this torment onto a listener... And then she added: You might be the only one to believe me without ruining my name. I don’t care if you spread the word. On the contrary, I really want you to share my experience with others.” Witness to my Last Judgement meets the criteria to be considered a mind-changer. When the reader finishes the final pages of this book and finds out Dee-Anna’s hidden secret, to follow will be some immediate soul-searching. The reader will then be able to unveil each of the hidden secrets tucked deeply in the back of his or her brain. I would like my readers to fully enjoy reading this story as much as the admirers of my artwork enjoy the dreamlike stories illustrated on my canvas. Synopsis Nobody's Angel by : Jack Clark

QUENTIN TARANTINO on NOBODY'S ANGEL: “My favorite fiction novel this year was written by a taxi driver who used to hand it out to his passengers. It’s a terrific story and character study of a cabbie in Chicago during a time when a serial killer is robbing and murdering cabbies. Kudos to Hard Case Crime for publishing Mr. Clark’s book.” TWO KILLERS STALK THE STREETS OF CHICAGO—CAN ONE TAXI DRIVER CORNER THEM BOTH? Eddie Miles is one of a dying breed: a Windy City hack who knows every street and back alley of his beloved city and takes its recent descent into violence personally. But what can one driver do about a killer targeting streetwalkers or another terrorizing cabbies? Precious little—until the night he witnesses one of them in action...

Synopsis Nobody's Valentine by : Marion Poynter

"Valentine Alexa Leeper was born in Melbourne on Valentines Day, 1900, the daughter of Alexander Leeper (18481934), the brilliant but argumentative first Warden of Trinity College. Her long life might seem unremarkable: she lived simply in the family's Victorian suburban home, neither marrying nor travelling overseas, and was regarded by many as an eccentric, at times tiresome, blue-stocking. The hoard of letters Valentine Leeper wrote and received over nearly a century reveals her, however, as a remarkable woman. The letters also provide an intimate view of issues, great and small, of the turbulent twentieth century, through the eyes of a clear-minded observer. Valentine publicly condemned racism and any curtailing of freedom of speech, and extensively supported refugees and the rights of Aborigines and women. Like many women of her time and background, she was an active member of a network seeking social justice, but remained always her own person. At once a staunch traditionalist, and ahead of her time, she was a truly liberated woman"--Provided by publisher.

Once again, Rune Michaels brings us a harrowing psychological drama that raises questions about the very nature of humanity. This chilling tale will challenge our preconceptions of family, memory, and self, leaving readers wondering, are we the pinnacle of evolution—or are we just animals on display?

Synopsis The Comfort of Our Kind by : Tom Stoner

Situated between two mountain ridges, the New England town of Franklin Notch celebrates its history and the characters who have forged it. The cornerstone of its heritage is Talbert’s Treaty, an eighteenth-century agreement between the original settlers and the Sagaweh Indian nation---as discovered by local historian Wes Moffatt, ex-host of a regionally famous kiddie TV show. The Comfort of Our Kind is narrated by Daniel “Boone” Moffatt, Wes’s oldest son and local chief of police, who describes life with his sister, Veronica, a misanthropic nurse with a weakness for Xanax; his brother, Reggie, a disgraced sportscaster who has been living undetected in Cinderella’s Castle; his mother, a mystic ex-nun (who everyone still calls “Sister”); and his father, who has just been accused of inventing bad history by concocting Talbert’s Treaty and most of the local lore. As children, Boone, Veronica, and Reggie were trained by their mother’s puzzling bedtime stories to serve in God’s Army of Saints and “fight for Goodness on earth.” Now, as adults, they search for their gifts of Faith, Hope, and Grace in a parade of life-altering adventures while struggling with the presence of evil in the world. Along the way, they collide with a collection of characters, including a serial killer, a Zenlike naturalist doctor, a genius Mafia princess, phony Native Americans, and the Devil himself in various incarnations of human vanity. Against the deadline of Wes and Sister’s fiftieth wedding anniversary and Boone’s apocalyptic seventh visit from the Devil, the Moffatt family struggles to unite as a force of goodness and to reclaim the respect of their neighbors and friends. Reminiscent of Lake Wobegon Days and The Witches of Eastwick, The Comfort of Our Kind is an unpredictable, quirky tale in which each character’s spirituality is tested in the overlay between earthy mysticism and raucous fantasy. Praise for The Comfort of Our Kind: “This fun debut novel by story writer Stoner chronicles the tribulations of a family caught in a war between good and evil in Franklin Notch, N.H. Stoner’s storytelling has a lot of Wes Anderson elements and should find a readership among those into the folksy, absurd and poignant.” --Publishers Weekly "A comic tale of a New England family battling personal weakness and the Devil….Stoner’s characters are appealing, and the multiple subplots will hold readers’ interest…amicable mix of comedy, mysticism and earnest spirituality." --Kirkus Reviews
