Synopsis No More Hats by : V.M. Sojourner

This book is about a woman named Elsie Banks and her long life, her family, and her hats. Elsie and her husband Marty Banks had sixteen children. She was the amazing old lady who struck up a conversation with anyone she met. Elsie wore hats to church as if it was mandatory and frowned upon her daughters as they grew older and refused to don hats for church. She was a Black Southern Baptist lady and somehow felt God paid attention to the hat on your head as a symbol of holiness. The stories tell of love of Elsie, from youth to her aging life, drama of sibling rivalry with her children, and the tragedies of cancer and HIV in the family. She died at the age of one hundred and one. She said, “no more hats because a crown awaited her in heaven.”

Synopsis Dior Hats by :

The great hats of Dior, as chosen by Stephen Jones, one of the most revered milliners of our times. Christian Dior himself wrote in his Little Dictionary of Fashion: "A hat is essential to any outfit. It completes it. In a way, a hat is the best way to express your personality." Published on the occasion of the 2020 exhibition at the Musée Christian Dior in Granville, France, and authored by renowned milliner Stephen Jones, this volume celebrates more than seventy years of exquisite hats. Opening with a focus on hats designed by Christian Dior himself, the book explores the house's headdresses over the years--from the first millinery of the New Look to Yves Saint Laurent's Venetian masks, the toques of Marc Bohan, dramatic boaters by Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano's extravagant confections, the graphic neck bow by Raf Simons, and romantic designs by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Jones's insightful texts are accompanied by contributions from leading experts and enlivened by drawings and photographs from Dior's archives; shots by famed photographers, such as Richard Avedon, Sir Cecil Beaton, and Craig McDean; and exclusive new images by Sølve Sundsbø.

Synopsis Hats Are Not for Cats! by : Jacqueline K. Rayner

Are hats for cats?! A big, bossy dog and a determined cat disagree. This funny rhyming romp—with a large cast of cats and hats—leads readers to the perfect conclusion: Hats are for everyone! A big, severe, plaid-hat-wearing dog insists that the small black cat in the red fez shouldn't be wearing a hat—any kind of hat—because hats are for dogs. His patronizing tirade doesn’t convince this cat, however. Defiantly, she wears an assortment of hats, described in the gleeful rhyming text, and brings in other cats to join the protest. The silliness of both text and pictures offers a cheerful take on bossiness and managing conflict, with a win-win resolution.

Synopsis The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins by : Dr. Seuss

As topical today as when it was first published in 1938, this book tells of Bartholomew Cubbins (from Caldecott Honor winner Bartholomew and the Oobleck) and his unjust treatment at the hands of King Derwin. Each time Bartholomew attempts to obey the king’s order to take off his hat, he finds there is another hat on his head. Soon it is Bartholomew’s head that is in danger . . . of being chopped off! While The 500 Hats is one of Dr. Seuss’s earliest works, it is nevertheless totally Seussian, addressing subjects that we know the good doctor was passionate about: abuse of power (as in Yertle the Turtle), rivalry (as in The Sneetches), and of course, zany good humor!
