Synopsis Mine's Parkinson's, What's Yours? by : Charles E Mickles, Jr
How do you face the unexpected? What do you do when life yanks the rug out from under you again and again and again? When tragedy strikes, where do you turn? How do you keep going and not give up when all hope seems lost? This last year has been "Hell." Nothing could prepare us for what was coming. I never expected, and never wanted to hear the four little words that turned our lives upside down. "You have Parkinson's Disease." Stunned, angry, discouraged, and lost, we had no idea where to even turn. Days seemed so dark, and often, all hope seemed lost. As a young man, and a young family, this was not in the plan. How in the world would we survive and face this devastating diagnosis? So many questions; so many things to consider. What would we do? This path would be long, and it would envelope the rest of my life.Yet I am not the only one walking challenging paths. Each of us has a difficult path of our own to follow. On these paths, we can feel very alone, we find few who understand the difficulties, which makes the pain and struggle even more isolating. We all have similar journeys, in my case, Parkinson's Disease is that path. It is a journey filled with pain, sorrow, grief, exhaustion, anger, doubt, and so many other emotional and physical ups and downs. As hard as battling this disease is, it can also, at times, be a journey filled with laughter, faith, love, encouragement, and courage. Whether my battle or yours, we must each choose how to face it, and this is a choice made day by day, taking that next step to see where this path may lead. On this journey (whatever yours might be), each of us need help and encouragement. We need to know that there are others who "get it", who understand. Through our struggles, we have the opportunity to bless and encourage others as they face their own struggles and difficulties. Hope is important, for without it, we cannot go on. Through this journey we are walking, may you find hope and encouragement, and may you be reminded that He will never leave us nor forsake us.We each face a battle, we all had hardships, and we choose how to face them. My battle is Parkinson's, what's yours? What Readers are saying: My life explained. - LisaThis is real life. My life with Parkinson's Disease.
