Synopsis Love Letters to God by : Lynn D. Morrissey
Women yearn to share their experiences with the Lover of their souls in a way that is honest and simple, yet deeply satisfying. The key to this intimate self-expression is prayer-journaling. By pouring her heart out on paper to God, a woman can enjoy God's loving presence, explore her purpose and passion, appreciate life's beauty and answer its perplexities, experience spiritual transformation, and leave a permanent record of God's faithfulness in her life. Love Letters to God is a woman's invitation to take a personal pilgrimage through her own 'sacred writings' to the very heart of God. DISCOVER THE WAY TO GOD'S HEART Your holding an invitation in your hands—an invitation to take a personal pilgrimage through your own 'sacred writings' to the very heart of God. If you're intimidated by praying aloud or easily distracted during your devotional time, pouring your heart out on paper will give you the privacy and intimacy you need. Inspired by these beutifully written reflections, you'll find the most fullfilling way to enjoy God's loving presence, explore your purpose and passion, and leave a permanent record of His love and faithfulness in your life. Find freedom, healing, hope, and security as you share your deepest longings with the lover of your soul. Story Behind the Book Writing one’s prayers in a journal (unlike verbal or silent prayers) provides an actual safe place to grow spiritually and to enjoy and enhance a personal relationship with God. Verbal prayers are soon forgotten, but our "love letters to God" become a permanent place for exploring our hearts, a tangible testimony of God’s love and faithfulness in our lives, and a detailed document of our spiritual journeys. We can literally see the progression of changes in our lives as expressed on the "pages of our soul," our prayer journals, and we can see God’s answers to our prayers recorded there. Like the psalmists, many people have discovered that writing is the key to intimate self-expression, providing a deep, emotional catharsis that is often missing from their verbal or silent prayers.

Synopsis Will You Take Me As I Am by : Michelle Mercer
Joni Mitchell is one of the most celebrated artists of the last half century, and her landmark 1971 album, Blue, is one of her most beloved and revered works. Generations of people have come of age listening to the album, inspired by the way it clarified their own difficult emotions. Critics and musicians admire the idiosyncratic virtuosity of its compositions. Will You Take Me As I Am -- the first book about Joni Mitchell to include original interviews with her -- looks at Blue to explore the development of an extraordinary artist, the history of songwriting, and much more. In extensive conversations with Mitchell, Michelle Mercer heard firsthand about Joni's internal and external journeys as she composed the largely autobiographical albums of what Mercer calls her Blue Period, which lasted through the mid-1970s. Incorporating biography, memoir, reportage, criticism, and interviews into an illuminating narrative, Mercer moves beyond the "making of an album" genre to arrive at a new form of music writing. In 1970, Mitchell was living with Graham Nash in Laurel Canyon and had made a name for herself as a so-called folk singer notable for her soaring voice and skillful compositions. Soon, though, feeling hemmed in, she fled to the hippie cave community of Matala, Greece. Here and on further travels, her compositions were freshly inspired by the lands and people she encountered as well as by her own radically changing interior landscape. After returning home to record Blue, Mitchell retreated to British Columbia, eventually reemerging as the leader of a successful jazz-rock group and turning outward in her songwriting toward social commentary. Finally, a stint with Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue and a pivotal meeting with the Tibetan lama ChÖgyam Trungpa prompted Mitchell's return to personal songwriting, which resulted in her 1976 masterpiece album, Hejira. Mercer interlaces this fascinating account of Mitchell's Blue Period with meditations on topics related to her work, including the impact of landscape on music, the value of autobiographical songwriting for artist and listener, and the literary history of confessionalism. Mercer also provides rich analyses of Mitchell's creative achievements: her innovative manner of marrying lyrics to melody; her inventive, highly expressive chords that achieve her signature blend of wonder and melancholy; how she pioneered personal songwriting and, along with Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, brought a new literacy to the popular song. Fans will appreciate the previously unpublished photos and a coda of Mitchell's unedited commentary on the places, books, music, pastimes, and philosophies she holds dear. This utterly original book offers a unique portrait of a great musician and her remarkable work, as well as new perspectives on the art of songwriting itself.

Synopsis Brand My Heart by : Yuwanda Black
“You did the unthinkable Weston. You turned him down initially. Honey that’s practically an open invitation to chase,” Delphine explained. “I know. Trust me I know that men like Jaxson Halford are used to women chasing them, and to having those he rains his attention on flock to him like a sheep to slaughter. And I can’t stand men like that. But I thought he was different. I thought he … I mean I thought his pursuit was sincere. We talked Delphine. He opened up to me; told me things you won’t find when you Google him. I didn’t think you could fake that kind of sincerity, but obviously you can. You’re right, apparently one of the reasons he was so interested in me is because I didn’t immediately cave in to him. But it wasn’t a game for me; if only I’d known it was to him.” “So do you really think he was only interested in a casual fling? Are you sure that it wasn’t more?” “Well then he’s really good, because he fooled you too," Weston said. "He can’t explain away the woman I saw in his arms or the fact that he's been with her for three years. In spite of those facts though, he made it quite clear that I’d be welcome to his bed at any time. But I’m no one’s bedpost notch. I want more.” “Ahhh, more … if we women could just give up wanting more, we could the find perfect relationship any time we wanted,” Delphine laughed. "But let me play devil's advocate and give the scumbag the benefit of the doubt for a second. “There’s no room for benefit of the doubt, Delphine. I know what I saw. I know what I heard. Jaxson is involved with another woman, and has been for quite some time. I can’t believe I didn’t pick up on it.” “Hear me out Weston. I’ve got ‘bullshit radar’ and I didn’t sense any with Jaxson. I saw the way he had you pinned up against the wall in your office couple of weeks ago. I thought you all were gonna go at it right then and there. I could feel the heat you two were generating all the way out in the hallway.” “I just want to forget that I ever allowed myself to get involved with him," Weston groaned. “But it’s not that easy and you know it,” Delphine warned. “You’re still drawn to him and the real battle here is not him or another woman. The real battle is with yourself Weston.” ### The real battle is with yourself Weston. The real battle is with yourself Weston. The real battle is with yourself Weston. Weston replayed the words over and over again in her head as she left the office later that day. Their truth rang so deeply in her soul that she could no longer deny it. She was head over heels in in love with the philandering Jaxson Halford, the very man whose contract her company depended on for survival … and there was nothing she could do about either fact right now.

Sadie is delighted to have booked famous romantic suspense novelist Linnea Bliss for an event at The Inkwell, her literary-themed pub, housed in a renovated grist mill. The author and her personal assistant Marcie are staying at Shady Creek Manor, a grand historical hotel that was once a private mansion and is rumored to still hold hidden treasure somewhere within its walls. But the hotel's storied past is nothing compared to its tragic present when Marcie plummets to her death from an open window on the third floor. After Sadie discovers signs of a struggle in the room, it's clear that someone assisted the assistant out the window. But Marcie is new in town—who would have a motive to kill her? In between pulling pints and naming literary-themed cocktails, Sadie takes it on herself to solve the case, wondering if the crime is connected to the vandalized vehicles of a film crew in town to do a feature on local brewer Grayson Blake, with whom Sadie shares a strong flirtation. Or could the poor woman's defenestration have anything to do with the legendary treasure? As Shady Creek Manor prepares for a May Day masquerade ball, Sadie is determined to unmask the killer—but when she uncorks a whole lot of trouble, will she meet a bitter end?
