Synopsis My Anchor Holds Within the Veil by : Micah Yarborough

Micah Yarborough was pursuing a graduate degree in counseling psychology when he had a severe manic episode that disrupted his education and his life, and heralded seven years of chaos. Over time God used his training as a therapist, his experience as a researcher studying serious mental illnesses and recovery, and his marriage to a gifted psychologist to do what he thought was impossible: Help him get well and stay well. My Anchor Holds Within the Veil describes the strategies Micah has used to achieve and maintain wellness for more than seven years. This is a story of love and loss, of suffering and tragedy, and of hope. It is a story about faith and forgiveness, redemption, and radical transformation. Most of all, it is a testimony to God's grace, sovereignty, and providential care. Part memoir and part guidebook, My Anchor Holds Within the Veil tells how God used bipolar disorder as a blessing to sanctify a husband and wife, to strengthen their marriage, and to teach them to depend on God's grace and the power of the gospel. My Anchor Holds Within the Veil is written for Christians and non-Christians who live with significant mental health problems. It is also written for those who love people who live with significant mental health problems to help them better understand mental illness and how to support recovery, and to provide hope that God can use their prayers and consistent sacrificial love to bring healing and change in the person they love.

Synopsis The Anchor Holds by : James C Williams

"The Anchor Holds" is a Christian book designed to inspire people of all ages to become better individuals, both to themselves and to others, and most importantly, to grow in their walk with God. This book features twenty-five short stories that teach us to trust God during life's toughest moments, understand the impact of negative words, and remember that even if others don't see our beauty, we are 'fearfully and wonderfully made' in the eyes of God. (Psalms 139:14). The Anchor Holds In a seaside village, nestled between towering cliffs and the endless expanse of the ocean, lived a humble fisherman named Thomas. Known for his wisdom and deep faith, Thomas often spoke of how God was the anchor that held him steady in the most tumultuous times. One fateful day, a ferocious storm swept through the village, more violent than any the villagers had ever seen. Waves towered like mountains, and the wind howled with a fury that seemed to threaten the very foundations of the earth. Fishermen scrambled to secure their boats, and families huddled in their homes, praying for safety. Thomas, however, stood calm and resolute. As the storm raged, he gathered the villagers in the small chapel at the heart of the village. With a calm voice that belied the chaos outside, he began to speak. "My friends," Thomas said, "we are not alone in this storm. Just as an anchor holds a ship steady in the roughest seas, so too does God hold us firm in the midst of life's greatest trials." He recounted the story of Peter, who walked on water towards Jesus. When Peter began to sink, Jesus immediately reached out and saved him. "It is not the strength of the storm that matters," Thomas continued, "but the strength of our faith and the steadfastness of God's love." As the night wore on, the storm grew even fiercer, but the villagers found solace in Thomas's words. They sang hymns and prayed together; their hearts anchored in a shared faith. Miraculously, when dawn broke, the storm had passed, leaving behind a village mostly unscathed. The villagers emerged, weary but filled with a renewed sense of hope and unity. Thomas stood by the shore, watching the calm sea, his heart filled with gratitude. "Just as the storm has passed," he told the villagers, "so too will the storms of our lives. Remember, when the waves threaten to overwhelm you, the anchor holds. God is with us, now and always." From that day forward, whenever a storm approached, the villagers would gather in the chapel, their faith unwavering. And in their hearts, they always carried Thomas's words: "The Anchor Holds."

Synopsis Your God is Too Glorious by : Chad Bird

Most of us are regular people who have good days and bad days. Our lives are radically ordinary and unexciting. That means they're the kind of lives God gets excited about. While the world worships beauty and power and wealth, God hides his glory in the simple, the mundane, the foolish, working in unawesome people, things, and places. In our day of celebrity worship and online posturing, this is a refreshing, even transformative way of understanding God and our place in his creation. It urges us to treasure a life of simplicity, to love those whom the world passes by, to work for God's glory rather than our own. And it demonstrates that God has always been the Lord of the cross--a Savior who hides his grace in unattractive, inglorious places.Your God Is Too Glorious reminds readers that while a quiet life may look unimpressive to the world, it's the regular, everyday people that God tends to use to do his most important work.
