Synopsis Multiple Solutions for Semi-linear Corner Degenerate Elliptic Equations by : Hua Chen
The present paper is concerned with the existence of multiple solutions for semi-linear corner-degenerate elliptic equations with subcritical conditions. First, we introduce the corner type weighted p-Sobolev spaces and discuss the properties of continuous embedding, compactness and spectrum. Then, we prove the corner type Sobolev inequality and Poincaré inequality, which are important in the proof of the main result.

Synopsis Global Solution Curves for Semilinear Elliptic Equations by : Philip Korman
This book provides an introduction to the bifurcation theory approach to global solution curves and studies the exact multiplicity of solutions for semilinear Dirichlet problems, aiming to obtain a complete understanding of the solution set. This understanding opens the way to efficient computation of all solutions. Detailed results are obtained in case of circular domains, and some results for general domains are also presented. The author is one of the original contributors to the field of exact multiplicity results.

Synopsis Entire Solutions of Semilinear Elliptic Equations by : Ilya Kuzin
Semilinear elliptic equations play an important role in many areas of mathematics and its applications to physics and other sciences. This book presents a wealth of modern methods to solve such equations, including the systematic use of the Pohozaev identities for the description of sharp estimates for radial solutions and the fibring method. Existence results for equations with supercritical growth and non-zero right-hand sides are given.Readers of this exposition will be advanced students and researchers in mathematics, physics and other sciences who want to learn about specific methods to tackle problems involving semilinear elliptic equations.

Synopsis Elliptic Partial Differential Equations by : Vitaly Volpert
The theory of elliptic partial differential equations has undergone an important development over the last two centuries. Together with electrostatics, heat and mass diffusion, hydrodynamics and many other applications, it has become one of the most richly enhanced fields of mathematics. This monograph undertakes a systematic presentation of the theory of general elliptic operators. The author discusses a priori estimates, normal solvability, the Fredholm property, the index of an elliptic operator, operators with a parameter, and nonlinear Fredholm operators. Particular attention is paid to elliptic problems in unbounded domains which have not yet been sufficiently treated in the literature and which require some special approaches. The book also contains an analysis of non-Fredholm operators and discrete operators as well as extensive historical and bibliographical comments . The selected topics and the author's level of discourse will make this book a most useful resource for researchers and graduate students working in the broad field of partial differential equations and applications.

Synopsis Elliptic, Hyperbolic and Mixed Complex Equations with Parabolic Degeneracy by : Guo Chun Wen
In the recent half-century, many mathematicians have investigated various problems on several equations of mixed type and obtained interesting results, with important applications to gas dynamics. However, the Tricomi problem of general mixed type equations of second order with parabolic degeneracy has not been completely solved, particularly the Tricomi and Frankl problems for general Chaplygin equation in multiply connected domains posed by L Bers, and the existence, regularity of solutions of the above problems for mixed equations with non-smooth degenerate curve in several domains posed by J M Rassias. The method revealed in this book is unlike any other, in which the hyperbolic number and hyperbolic complex function in hyperbolic domains, and the complex number and complex function in elliptic domains are used. The corresponding problems for first order complex equations with singular coefficients are first discussed, and then the problems for second order complex equations are considered, where we pose the new partial derivative notations and complex analytic methods such that the forms of the above first order complex equations in hyperbolic and elliptic domains are wholly identical. In the meantime, the estimates of solutions for the above problems are obtained, hence many open problems including the above TricomiOCo Bers and TricomiOCoFranklOCoRassias problems can be solved. Sample Chapter(s). Chapter 1: Elliptic Complex Equations of First Order (247 KB). Contents: Elliptic Complex Equations of First Order; Elliptic Complex Equations of Second Order; Hyperbolic Complex Equations of First and Second Orders; First Order Complex Equations of Mixed Type; Second Order Linear Equations of Mixed Type; Second Order Quasilinear Equations of Mixed Type. Readership: Graduate students and academics in analysis, differential equations and applied mathematics.
