Synopsis Mucha: Cowslip and Documents Decoratifs (Foiled Journal) by : Flame Tree Studio
Part of a series of exciting and luxurious Flame Tree Notebooks. Combining high-quality production with magnificent fine art, the covers are printed on foil in five colours, embossed then foil stamped. And they're powerfully practical: a pocket at the back for receipts and scraps, two bookmarks and a solid magnetic side flap. These are perfect for personal use and make a dazzling gift. Alphonse Mucha was a defining figure of the Art Nouveau era and is beloved for his images of beautiful women. Cowslip forms the mirror to another of Mucha's artworks, Feather. In both, a woman gazes down at the eponymous object in her hand, though whilst Cowslip shows a brunette, Feather depicts a blonde. Both have the familiar motif of a circle framing the head, which can be seen in many of Mucha's artworks.

Synopsis Théo Van Rysselberghe by : Théo van Rysselberghe
The Belgian painter Théo Van Rysselberghe (1862-1926) is one of the most emblematic figures of the neo-Impressionist movement, together with Georges Seurat and Paul Signac. With his delicate touch, refined chromatic sense and great elegance--above all in his portraits--he produced some of the finest works of Divisionism. Yet Van Rysselberghe's oeuvre is not limited to his best-known works of his neo-Impressionist period (1888-96). Distancing himself from the strict division of colors, he subsequently moved towards a more fluid style that nevertheless retained his signature luminosity. His portraits and female nudes, the landscapes he brought back from his numerous trips to Morocco, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, all reveal an insatiable curiosity and an immense talent, coupled with a rare sensibility. This generous new catalogue presents many works that have never been published before.

Synopsis Expressionism and Poster Design in Germany 1905–1922 by : Kathleen G. Chapman
In Expressionism and Poster Design in Germany 1905–1925, Kathleen Chapman re-defines Expressionism by situating it in relation to the most common type of picture in public space during the Wilhelmine twentieth century, the commercial poster. Focusing equally on visual material and contemporaneous debates surrounding art, posters, and the image in general, this study reveals that conceptions of a “modern” image were characterized not so much by style or mode of production and distribution, but by a visual rhetoric designed to communicate more directly than words. As instances of such rhetoric, Expressionist art and posters emerge as equally significant examples of this modern image, demonstrating the interconnectedness of the aesthetic, the utilitarian, and the commercial in European modernism.
