Synopsis The Modern Firm, Corporate Governance and Investment by : Per-Olof Bjuggren
This book explores the revolutionary development of the theory of the firm over the past 35 years. Despite rapid progress in the field, new developments in the microeconomic and industrial organization literature have been relatively scant. This book attempts to redress the balance by providing a comprehensive overview of the theory of the firm before moving on to explore firms and the organization of their economic activities. The contributors investigate the impact of ownership structure and board composition on firm performance, and examine how the institutional framework of an economy affects investment decisions. More specifically, detailed studies of topics including contracts, authority, competence blocs, institutional impacts and corporate governance mechanisms are presented. This unique blend of financial economics and industrial organization perspectives on the corporate firm will prove a stimulating read for scholars and researchers of economics, business administration and law.

Synopsis Project Financing: Financial Instruments And Risk Management by : Carmel De Nahlik
The book describes the different tools and techniques available to anyone who is engaged in providing funding or advice to a project. Project finance is ultimately about applying three basic principles to a funding situation and from these three, all the other ideas flow including contracts. First, there needs to be a cash flow coming from the project that is capable of being captured by finance providers. Second, there needs to be a group of assets that can be segregated and contained by making sure they cannot be taken away by other parties and thirdly there needs to be a risk envelope that is well understood and managed dynamically during the project's life. To do this, a network of contracts must exist to support the rights of the different stakeholders and their legal claims on the project. In this book the authors examine all of these aspects and provide some examples/mini-cases of project structures and approaches. The book begins and ends with a longer case study of two projects that were standalone examples of project financing and controversial for different reasons at the time of their fundraising.Bundle Set: Project Financing (Analyzing and Structuring Projects & Financial Instruments and Risk Management)

Synopsis Renewable Energy Finance by : Santosh Raikar
Renewable Energy Finance: Theory and Practice, Second Edition integrates the special characteristics of renewable energy with key elements of project finance. Through a mixture of fundamental analysis and real-life examples, readers learn how renewable energy project finance deals mix finance, public policy, legal, engineering and environmental issues. This book investigates the economics of large-scale green power production and incentive mechanisms and how they fit into the global energy industries. It also examines how distributed energy resources such as residential solar and batteries can be financed at the scale needed to play a significant role in the future energy mix. The authors examine how renewable energy projects get financed and built using modern non-recourse project finance structures. It also highlights recent innovations such as Green Bonds and Sustainability Linked Loans that have emerged in the context of ESG investments. The scope of the book is global, and it illustrates how renewable energy project finance has evolved in various places (such as the tax-equity structures used in the United States, due to the corporate tax incentives used there) to cope with local regulatory and policy environments. - Supports efforts to achieve environmental sustainability through renewable financing projects and cleaner production techniques - Provides some real-life case studies to help readers to understand how a project gets financed and built, including the critical interplays between the different financing elements based on how real deals are done - Offers project finance models on a companion website—for wind and solar projects, for example—based on real investment banking experience that can form the basis for student projects and independent study - New to this edition: two new chapters on Addressing Technology Risks for Successful Clean Energy Transition and Financing Green Hydrogen Projects bring the text up to date
