Synopsis The Books of Albion by : Peter Doherty
' ''Poet, young and busy, seeks cheap spacious rooms somewhere. Excellent references available . . .'' so reads a self-penned ad, a very early entry from Pete Doherty's journals. From the early books a fascinating and very entertaining picture emerges of the young poet, broke in London, serving popcorn at the Prince Charles Cinema, ruminating on Britpop, listening to Scott Walker, but dreaming of creating a band infused with 'the spirit of Albion'. The later books reflect Pete's rise to fame, his changing world, and are full of artwork, photographs, notes and thoughts. It is intimate, honest stuff, very readable and very funny in places; pretty dark in others. All in all it's the work of a serious artist, a complete antidote to most things written about Doherty. These twenty-odd books - edited and condensed into one volume - are filled with poems, drawings, personal reflections, lyrics and collages, and is a powerfully compelling collection.

Synopsis Opportunity Knocked by : Clyde Seely
Growing up on a small family farm in the shadows of Yellowstone National Park, Clyde Glen Seely learned the importance of hard work, strong family ties and making the best of any circumstance. His first childhood responsibility was feeding bum lambs on the farm in Twin Groves, Idaho. Then opportunity knocked. Follow Clyde's first-hand experiences as he relives the conflicts, challenges, and successes that transformed the young farm boy into a successful businessman who helped influence the future of West Yellowstone, Montana. Whether it was increasing tourism with the Painted Buffalo project, leading the massive effort of fighting the 1988 fires of Yellowstone, keeping public winter access open to Yellowstone, or a variety of community improvements, Clyde's innovative solutions, optimism and faith helped to change the course of this region. Like a pebble tossed in a pond causes ripples to spread across the entire surface, key people have had a positive influence on Clyde's life. He has cast his own pebbles, as he has strived to make life better for others who pause to know him or the great town of West Yellowstone.

Synopsis The Sword of Allah by : Ibn Kathir
The Sword of Allah: Khalid Bin Al-Waleed, His Life and Campaigns Khalid bin Al-Waleed was one of the greatest generals in history, and one of the greatest heroes of history. Besides him, Genghis Khan was the only other general to remain undefeated in his entire military life. Khalid was sent to the Persian Empire with an army consisting of 18,000 volunteers to conquer the richest province of the Persian empire, Euphrates region of lower Mesopotamia, (present day Iraq). Khalid entered lower Mesopotamia with this force. He won quick victories in four consecutive battles: the Battle of Chains, fought in April 633; the Battle of River, fought in the third week of April 633; the Battle of Walaja, fought in May 633 (where he successfully used a double envelopment manoeuvre), and Battle of Ullais, fought in the mid-May 633. In the last week of May 633, al-Hira, the regional capital city of lower Mesopotamia, fell to Khalid. The inhabitants were given peace on the terms of annual payment of jizya (tribute) and agreed to provide intelligence for Muslims. After resting his armies, in June 633, Khalid laid siege to Anbar which despite fierce resistance fell in July 633 as a result of the siege imposed on the town. Khalid then moved towards the south, and captured Ein ul Tamr in the last week of July, 633.

Synopsis On the Composition of Images, Signs & Ideas by : Giordano Bruno
Giordano Bruno (/dʒɔːrˈdɑːnoʊ ˈbruːnoʊ/; Italian: [dʒorˈdaːno ˈbruːno]; Latin: Iordanus Brunus Nolanus; born Filippo Bruno, January or February 1548 - 17 February 1600) was an Italian philosopher, poet, cosmological theorist and esotericist. He is known for his cosmological theories, which conceptually extended to include the then-novel Copernican model. He proposed that the stars were distant suns surrounded by their own planets (exoplanets), and he raised the possibility that these planets might foster life of their own, a cosmological position known as cosmic pluralism. He also insisted that the universe is infinite and could have no center.
