Synopsis Middle Fork Magic by : Gayle Selisch
For many years, author Gayle Selisch and her husband ran Middle Fork Rafting Tours, one of the United States’ premier whitewater rafting trips. While out on these tours, they used these wonderful recipes, trying, testing, and enjoying them on Idaho’s Middle Fork of the Salmon River. These recipes highlight the use of the aluminum Dutch oven and are designed to be made primarily over charcoal, but they can also be cooked at home, in any oven. The recipes include breakfast dishes, unique lunch salads, appetizers, dinner entrees, side dishes, and desserts. River history and humor are incorporated among the recipes to add to its charm. From yummy pecan sticky buns to warm beans with herbs, from tomatoes and goat cheese to peppered pork tenderloin with blueberry sauce, there are wonderful, tasty dishes for everyone. The proceeds from the sale of this cookbook will benefit two important nonprofit organizations. The first beneficiary is the Swiftsure Therapeutic Equestrian Center located in Bellevue, Idaho. Therapeutic riding improves the lives of disabled persons. The second beneficiary is the Bald Mountain Rescue Fund, an Idaho organization that assists residents in times of catastrophic injuries.

Synopsis The Bright Country by : Harry Middleton
When Harry Middleton lost his job at a prominent magazine, it was but the beginning of what turned out to be a year marked by personal crisis. In the course of that year, as he searched for new work and battled severe depression, he eventually ended up in Denver, where he began exploring the high mountain country west of the city. For Middleton, the turning point in his long journey through life's dark side came with the discovery of a blind brown trout in a Rocky Mountain stream where Middleton spent his every spare moment feeding what he calls his "terrible addiction" to fly fishing. That bright river and the blind trout would assume a larger significance and become for him a metaphor for struggle and survival. Middleton's terms with life as it is, with the fits and starts of the human condition, seems always to involve trout and fly fishing. Middleton's books are dominated not only by memorable rivers and trout but also by some of literature's most colorful, comical, and fascinating people. The Bright Country is no exception. As we follow Middleton on his journey through the terrain of paradise and hell, we meet: Swami Bill, president and CEO of the Holistic Motor Court, Ashram & Coin Laundry in Boulder, Colorado; his main squeeze, the heartbreakingly beautiful Kiwi LaReaux; a short-order cook who spends his nights on the roof of a west Texas hotel looking at the night sky through a cracked telescope; there is the life and death of truth, Dr. truth; the seductive Mi Oh, hostess at the Now & Zen restaurant in Denver; and, of course, the blind brown trout in its blind eyes Middleton finds not dead shadows but living light.

Synopsis Magic Ramen by : Andrea Wang
World War II was over, but in Japan, lines for a simple bowl of ramen noodles wound down the sidewalk. What Momofuku Ando did next would change food forever. "An inspiring story of persistence and an ideal purchase for any collection." For years, he'd dreamed about making a new kind of ramen noodle soup that was quick, convenient, and tasty for the hungry people he'd seen in line for a bowl on the black market following World War II. Peace follows from a full stomach, he believed. Day after day, Ando experimented. Night after night, he failed. But Ando kept experimenting. With persistence, creativity, and a little inspiration, Ando succeeded. This is the true story behind one of the world's most popular foods.
