Synopsis Semimicro Quantitative Organic Analysis by : E. P. Clark
Semimicro Quantitative Organic Analysis focuses on the analytical phase of research and chemistry of natural products, as well as analysis of gases and methods used in identifying iodine and other substances. The manuscript first offers information on the determination of carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen, and the use of Kjeldahl and Dumas methods in the determination of nitrogen. The book also ponders on the determination of halogens, including the use of ethanolamine-sodium, Carius, and sodium peroxide fusion methods and the Liepert volumetric method for iodine. The publication discusses the determination of sulfur and phosphorus, as well as the alkali-nitrate fusion method for converting organic phosphorus to orthophosphate and Woy's procedure for weighing phosphorus as phosphomolybdic anhydride. The text also reviews the determination of methoxyl and ethoxyl and acetyl groups; determination of neutralization equivalent and molecular weights; and determination of volatile fatty acids. The manuscript is a dependable reference for readers interested in the chemistry of natural products.

Synopsis Methods of Organic Analysis (Classic Reprint) by : Henry C. Sherman
Excerpt from Methods of Organic Analysis The purpose of this work is to give a connected introductory training in organic analysis, especially as applied to plant and animal substances and their manufactured products. No attempt is made to touch upon all important branches of this subject but representative topics are treated in considerable detail with reference both to analytical methods and to the interpretation of results. The greater part of the book is devoted to quantitative methods for food materials and related substances. Standard works of reference and the publications of the Association of Official Agricultural Chemists have been freely used. The nomenclature adopted in these publications has been followed as closely as possible. As a rule, footnotes show the original sources of statements or methods included in the text, while general or additional references are given at the end of each chapter. The references have been carefully selected and are believed to be sufficient to put the reader in touch with the most important literature. The descriptions of methods were written primarily for the use of third-year students in the School of Chemistry, Columbia University, and therefore presuppose a knowledge of inorganic quantitative analysis, elementary organic chemistry, and general physics. The writer takes pleasure in acknowledging his indebtedness to Professor Edmund H. Miller for helpful advice and suggestions throughout the work, and to Mr. Roland H. Williams for assistance in testing methods and in the revision of parts of the manuscript. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Synopsis Organic Analytical Chemistry by : Jag Mohan
Rapid developments in analytical techniques and the use of modern reagents in organic synthesis during the last two decades have revolutionized the approach to organic structure determination. As advanced topics in organic analysis such as spectroscopic methods are being introduced, postgraduate students (majoring in organic chemistry) have been feeling handicapped by the non-availability of a book that could uncover various aspects of qualitative and quantitative organic analysis. This book is written primarily to stimulate the interest of students of organic chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences in organic analytical chemistry. Key features: Identification and characterization of organic compounds by classical methods Mechanism of various reactions involved in the detection of functional groups and their derivatization Functional groups interfering with a given test procedure Identification of organic compounds by spectral methods (IR, UV, NMR and Mass Spectrometry) Chemical analysis by other instrumental techniques-Atomic emission spectroscopy, Electron spin resonance spectroscopy, Atomic absorption spectroscopy, flnorimetry & Phosphorimetry, Flame photometry and X-ray methods General techniques for separation and purification including Gas Chromatography and HPLC Preparation of organic compounds based on important name reactions and pharmaceutical properties Mechanism of the reactions involved in the synthesis Simple analytical techniques and specific methods of quantitative elemental, functional groups and biochemical estimations Composite spectral problems Incorporating ample modern techniques of organic analysis, this book will be of great value to graduate & postgraduate students, teachers and researchers in the field of organic chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences.

Synopsis Quantitative Organic Microanalysis by : Al Steyermark
Quantitative Organic Microanalysis, Second Edition presents the recommendations of the American Chemical Society group for specification and methods of organic microanalysis. This book is organized into 23 chapters, and starts with discussions on test samples, blank tests, second type of efficient vibration-absorbing balance table, and microchemical balances. Other general topics covered include the Kjeldahl procedures to determine nitrogen compounds; oxygen flask combustions; determination of fluorine; and microhydrogenation. The final chapters present the modification of the procedure for the determination of oxygen using gravimetry. This book will be of great value to microanalysts, researchers, and college students who wants to expand their understanding in organic microanalysis.
