Synopsis III Wars Trilogy by : John E. Thompson
It was the last image however, taking shape just before the entrance to his treasure room, that shook Third's very soul and filled him with more terror and dread he had ever felt before. An imposing human warrior stood barring Third's entrance into his destiny of power and fame. The man stood resolute in his battle ready stance, and Third felt as though he was seeing death incarnate. The warrior held a metallic rod in one gauntleted hand and a shield at the defensive ready in the other. A single stonework battle tower was emblazoned upon the circular shield. Somehow, Third knew that he would forever remember this warrior's determined face. Third tried to focus his mind to remove the vision, but it remained. He tried to slow his drifting approach toward the warrior, but he couldn't. Some force was compelling them to each other. With calculating eyes the warrior sensed his presence and raised his battle rod to strike. An aqua-blue hue enveloped the metal rod as it shimmered, transformed, and lengthened into a long sword. Flames burst to life over the entire surface of the gleaming blade as the terrifying warrior raised it high overhead. With his shield held in perfect defense he lunged forward and slashed the blazing sword downward into Third's mind.

Synopsis Understanding Kate Atkinson by : Brian Diemert
Best known for her Jackson Brodie series of detective novels, which were adapted into the BBC television series Case Histories, Kate Atkinson is the author of eleven novels, two plays, and a collection of short stories. Her literary awards include the 1995 Whitbread Award for a first novel and book of the year for Behind the Scenes at the Museum and the Costa Book Awards for best novel in 2013 and 2015 for Life after Life and A God in Ruins. In this first book-length study of Atkinson's literary career, Brian Diemert examines the evolution of her novels: the playful and self-conscious work of the 1990s, the detective series novels, the books that examine Britain's history and its legacy of conflict and trauma related to World War II, and the most recent return to mystery. Diemert identifies her pattern of weaving multiple narrative strands into intricate plots that create the mystery at the heart of all her tales. He traces her development of narrative technique and thematic preoccupations of women's vulnerability within patriarchy and the complications of absent or disengaged parents. While her fiction is marked by allusiveness and humor, it remains profound and often touching as it explores the myths of British history and, particularly, women's lives.

Synopsis Cross-Examined Films by : Matthew King
After spending nearly a quarter of a lifetime watching popular and independent films, Matthew King, RN, makes a point to criticize the Christian church for its lack of engagement with films. He believes that the lack of engagement and the strong denunciation of films only because of their sexual or violent content has lost an entire generation because of the inability to speak the millennial language of popular Hollywood films. With searing prose and biting confrontation, King attempts to engage films through the lens of theology, philosophy, and political analysis to assist the church in identifying positive as well as negative examples of the topics within to better engage an entire generation. Through this investigation, Christians and non-Christians alike will be both enlightened and surprised at what popular films have unconsciously taught them from a young age.
