Synopsis Loving Pierce by : Elizabeth Lennox
CEO Pierce Rossen doesn’t believe in love. It was an irrational emotion and he prefers to deal with logic and data. But when Kaitlin comes back into his life after six months apart, he can no longer fight the attraction between them. And new revelations about his past teach him that three little words aren’t bad. Mystery writer Kaitlin Hawley had fallen fast and hard for Pierce the first time around. And when she spotted him again this time, she knew that she hadn’t ever gotten over him. But would he accept her words of love this time? Was he ready? Or had his past destroyed any chance that the big, tall, dynamic man could ever love her?

Synopsis Love Came Down at Christmas by : Sinclair Ferguson
Advent devotional on 1 Corinthians 13, reflecting on the source of authentic, divine, transforming love. Advent devotional on 1 Corinthians 13, reflecting on the source of authentic, divine, transforming love. Everyone seems to say that Christmas is about love. It’s in the songs we hear as we shop for presents and in the adverts we see on TV. It’s in the cards we send and on the gift tags we write. And Christians can agree. Christmas really is about love, because love came down at Christmas in the person of Jesus Christ. This Advent devotional contains 24 daily readings from 1 Corinthians 13. Sinclair B Ferguson brings the rich theology of the incarnation to life with his trademark warmth and clarity. We'll see what “love” looked like in the life of Christ and be challenged to love like him. Each day's reading finishes with a question for reflection and a prayer. However you're feeling, your heart will be refreshed as you wonder again at the truth that love came down at Christmas.

Synopsis The Awakened Woman's Guide to Everlasting Love by : Londin Angel Winters
In today's disconnected, distracted world, it seems like deep love gets harder to maintain every day. We spend more time looking at screens than at each other, cycle through new partners every time the spark starts to fade, and wall away our feelings until we become strangers who share a house and kids. But underneath all this, our souls long for an unbreakable love which deepens over time and lovemaking that gets hotter, not cooler, inside a lifetime commitment. This bond we yearn for is not impossible. It's not even improbable. You can create it in your life right now¿intimacy that opens both you and your partner to a divine awakening you could not create on your own, lovemaking that curls your toes, and a partnership where both people champion each other's best interests, where even the difficult moments bring you closer together. This is sacred relationship, and it exists in these pages. This book is an owner's manual for intimacy, a map for loving at the deepest level, and an invitation into sacred practice where divine connection becomes part of everyday life.

Synopsis Franklin Pierce by : Michael F. Holt
The genial but troubled New Englander whose single-minded partisan loyalties inflamed the nation's simmering battle over slavery Charming and handsome, Franklin Pierce of New Hampshire was drafted to break the deadlock of the 1852 Democratic convention. Though he seized the White House in a landslide against the imploding Whig Party, he proved a dismal failure in office. Michael F. Holt, a leading historian of nineteenth-century partisan politics, argues that in the wake of the Whig collapse, Pierce was consumed by an obsessive drive to unify his splintering party rather than the roiling country. He soon began to overreach. Word leaked that Pierce wanted Spain to sell the slave-owning island of Cuba to the United States, rousing sectional divisions. Then he supported repeal of the Missouri Compromise, which limited the expansion of slavery in the west. Violence broke out, and "Bleeding Kansas" spurred the formation of the Republican Party. By the end of his term, Pierce's beloved party had ruptured, and he lost the nomination to James Buchanan. In this incisive account, Holt shows how a flawed leader, so dedicated to his party and ill-suited for the presidency, hastened the approach of the Civil War.
