Synopsis Lon Chaney's The Miracle Man: The Novel that Inspired the Famous Lost Film by : Frank L. Packard

Lon Chaney's "The Miracle Man" is one of the famous "lost" films of the silent movie era. A bold, riveting expose of a phony "faith healer," this film saw the "Man of a Thousand Faces" once again playing a grotesque, pathetic character, yet one the audience can still feel sympathy for. Though a complete print of the original film may be lost forever, the novel it is based on, by Frank L. Packard, lives on. Follow the monstrous lives of old-time criminals and religious frauds in this buried treasure from the past.

Synopsis Nosferatu: Adapted from the Screenplay by Henrik Galeen by : C. Augustine

Come, tour the wild hills and deep, black forests of Transylvania with us. Climb aboard the creaking carriage. We're headed to the Borgo Pass, to Castle Orlok, for a night of terror that will leave you screaming for the dawn... In the acclaimed silent film Nosferatu (1922), filmaking pioneer F.W. Murnau offered to the world what has been described as the most ""realistic"" vampire film ever made.Suppressed for many years by the estate of Dracula author Bram Stoker, the film was thought, for many years, to be ""lost."" Indeed, it was not lost, but, like the undead monster that is its subject, rose again from the celluloid graveyard of antique films, to haunt the world once more. Now, author C. Augustine has adapted the script fo this horror legend as a novel, one calculated to fulfill the gothic dread promised by the original film, and provide the reader with many dark, disturbing dreams.

Synopsis The Phantom of the Opera by : Gaston Leroux

Inspired by true events from the Paris Opera, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ is the most famous novel from French author Gaston Leroux. A strange phantom haunts the opera, causing fatal accidents on stage and committing some gruesome murders when his demands aren’t met. The phantom soon becomes enamoured with the young singer Christine, becoming her ‘Angel of Music’ and guiding her musical career. However, when Christine’s childhood friend Raoul comes in to her life, the phantom’s jealously will have fatal consequences. It is an immortal tale of love, lust and tragedy. We can all sympathise with the love that never was or could be, in this tale of destructive desire reminiscent of ‘Wuthering Heights’. The novel was famously adapted in 1925, starring Lon Chaney as the Phantom and later arranged into a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Gaston Leroux (1868-1927) was a French author of detective fiction who’s contribution to the genre has drawn parallels to Arthur Conan Doyle. After working for several years as a journalist, he began to write fiction with tremendous success. He is best-known for his novel "The Phantom of the Opera" (1910) which has been successfully adapted numerous times for film and stage productions, most notably in Andrew Lloyd Webber's 1986 musical adaptation. Among his other most notable works are "The Mystery of the Yellow Room", "The Bride and the Sun", and "The Man Who Came Back From the Dead".

Synopsis Lon Chaney Speaks by : Pat Dorian

A stunning graphic debut: the life of the legendary silent-film actor Lon Chaney (the original Phantom of the Opera and Hunchback of Notre Dame), as imagined by an artist whose work recalls the style and skill of early-era New Yorker cartoonists. From the artist: "'No one will ever love me!' I believe it was this near-universal fear that makes Lon Chaney's characters continue to resonate with us today. On their surface, most of them are distinctly unlikeable: they are monsters, outcasts, criminals. But through his unique magic, Chaney makes them empathetic. He pioneered the craft of makeup artist long before that term ever existed, and he used his expertise to hide himself from public view--what if nobody loved him?"
