This digital version features Garth Williams's classic illustrations, which appear in vibrant full color on a full-color device and in rich black-and-white on all other devices. The adventures continue for Laura Ingalls and her family as they leave their little house in the Big Woods of Wisconsin and set out for the big skies of the Kansas Territory. They travel for many days in their covered wagon until they find the best spot to build their house. Soon they are planting and plowing, hunting wild ducks and turkeys, and gathering grass for their cows. Just when they begin to feel settled, they are caught in the middle of a dangerous conflict. Synopsis My Adventures by : Grace Black-Hammond
Grace Black-Hammond was born in 1931-a depression baby-in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1949 and left the following year at 18 as a new bride, Mrs. Jim Black, to San Tome, Venezuela and the Gulf Oil Company. Her many interests include art, jewelry making, gourmet cooking and making a “home away from home” in nine foreign countries for Jim and five children during some very trying experiences. Their assignments took them to nine countries: Venezuela, Bolivia, Columbia, Argentina, Nigeria, England, Norway, Ireland and Indonesia. Jim and Grace retired in 1985 to Woodland Park, Colorado. They were lucky enough to enjoy the birth and formative years of eight grandchildren and the making of new friends. After Jim’s death in 2001, she married her old friend, Maury Hammond, in 2004 and began adventures in gold and gem mining. At the urging of many friends, she decided to write her autobiography.

Synopsis Between Friends by : Debbie Macomber
Jillian Lawton and Lesley Adamski. Two girls from very different backgrounds. Jillian is the only child of wealthy parents, while Lesley's from a working-class family. They become best friends in the turbulent '60s, but their circumstances, their choices—and their mistakes—take them in virtually opposite directions. Lesley stays in their Washington State hometown. She gets pregnant and marries young, living a life defined by the demands of small children, not enough money—never enough money—and an unfaithful husband. Jill lives those years in a completely different way: on a college campus shaken by the Vietnam War, and then as an idealistic young lawyer in New York City. But they always remain friends. Through the years and across the miles, through marriage, children, divorce and widowhood, Jill and Lesley confide everything to each other—every grief and every joy. Because the quality of a friendship is the quality of a life.

Synopsis Best Friends by : Martha Moody
Martha Moody's national bestseller—a compassionate and tender novel about best friends from college. A testament to the power of female friendship. When Clare Mann arrives at Oberlin in 1973, she’s never met anyone like Sally Rose. Rich and beautiful, Sally is utterly foreign to a middle-class, Midwestern Protestant like Clare—and utterly fascinating. The fascination only grows when Sally brings her home to L.A. Mr. Rose—charismatic, charming, and owner of a profitable business shrouded in secrey—is nearly as compelling a figure to Clare as he is to his own daughter. California seems like paradise after winters in Ohio. And Clare begins to look forward desperately to these visits, to carefree rides in Sally’s Kharmann Ghia and lazy poolside days. As the years pass, Clare becomes a doctor and Sally a lawyer, always remaining roommates at heart, a plane ride or phone call away. Marriages and divorces and births and deaths do not separate them. But secrets might—for as Clare watches, the Rose family begins to self-destruct before her eyes. And the things she knows are the kinds of things that no one wants to tell a best friend.
