Coast and Geodetic Survey, 1816-1902 The following List (part I) and Catalogue (part II) was compiled in response to demands for information in regard to the publications Of the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey, and relates entirely to these publications: Previous to July I, 1878, this Bureau was called the United States Coast Survey, which explains the apparent discrepancy in the title Of the publications issued before and Since that date. The List is arranged in chronological order and the Catalogue alphabetically by authors, subjects, and places, with numerous cross references.
