The title comes from a line in Shakespeare's 5th sonnet, A liquid prisoner pent in walls of glass. Vangelisti sees each of the original sonnets as dramatic scenes, and his reflections often rely on the Great American Songbook. With a dreamed-up reconfigured rhyme scheme, Vangelisti invigorates an old form in an entirely new way.
